And marriage is not always like this,&#8221; Hargitay said, while putting her arm in an upright position, &#8220;or any relationship that is deep in matters. But, I have learned so much.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Peter always says this beautiful quote about &#8230; breaking through marriage into marriage. In an interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:21;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodhousekeeping.com\/life\/inspirational-stories\/interviews\/a18253\/mariska-hargitay-adoption\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Good Housekeeping;cpos:21;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Good Housekeeping<\/a>, Hargitay explained they received word of a premature child and that saying yes was a &#8220;no-brainer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was like \u2026 a miracle. And I don\u2019t use that word lightly. I\u2019ve never made a bigger decision so quickly,&#8221; Hargitay aid.<\/p>\n<p>Once the paperwork was finalized, Hargitay told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:22;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/parents\/mariska-hargitay-adopts-son-andrew-nicolas\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:People;cpos:22;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">People<\/a> they felt &#8220;so lucky&#8221; to be parents again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, \u2018Yes, yes, yes!\u2019&#8221; she explained to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:23;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/parents\/mariska-hargitay-adopts-son-andrew-nicolas\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:People;cpos:23;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">People<\/a>. \u201cWe knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After taking Andrew home, Hargitay felt more joy than she could ever imagine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I always describe it as this angel that fell out of the sky, because he was a little unexpected,&#8221; she told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:24;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/parents\/mariska-hargitay-peter-hermann-adoption-unique-family-exclusive\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:People;cpos:24;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">People<\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something that happened very quickly, when adoption can take a long time,\u201d Hargitay added. \u201cWe were so beautifully and surprisingly \u2026 not because we\u2019re not in sync, but surprisingly in sync about something so huge.
