\n KCET\u00a0and\u00a0local Southern California PBS stations\u00a0are set to be consolidated into one name: PBS SoCal.<\/p>\n

\n Though the Los Angeles-based public broadcaster KCET will still exist, it will be referred to as \u201cPBS SoCal Plus,\u201d so that both PBS flagship broadcast stations will be under one unified brand starting Feb. 6.<\/p>\n

\n The broadcaster noted that KCET programming will not change.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cPBS SoCal and KCET merged in 2018, and since then, we have grown into a strong public media<\/a> entity serving Southern California that reflects the diversity of our region and provides a full schedule of beloved and trusted PBS programs,\u201d PBS SoCal president and CEO\u00a0Andrew Russell said in a statement. \u201cWhile the broadcast channel name may be changing, the programs that viewers love on KCET \u2014 Artbound, Lost LA, Father Brown, Must See Movies<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>and more \u2014 will remain available on the channel and across all of our platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n He continued, \u201cOur honored tradition, built by KCET, of producing original, thoughtful and inspiring content around the arts, local culture, environment, news<\/a> and public affairs remains core to our deep commitment\u00a0of\u00a0serving our community with high-quality public media.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Viewers\u2019 favorite programs will also be available to stream on one website,\u00a0pbssocal.org<\/a>. Local viewers will still be able to watch KCET (now \u201cPBS SoCal Plus\u201d) programming on 28.1 while PBS SoCal viewers will continue on 50.1. Cable and satellite carriers will host \u201cPBS SoCal Plus\u201d content on the same channels previously carrying KCET, as well.<\/p>\n

\n Audiences will now only see the call letters of KCET during FCC-mandated station identifier breaks.<\/p>\n

\n Dan Ferguson, PBS SoCal senior vp of marketing and communications, added, \u201cThis change ensures we are following what the community has requested and aligns the local flagship organization with the trusted values and brand strength associated with the PBS name.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
