Ice Cube has shared that he\u2019s not impressed by the NBA\u2019s attempt to try something new this season, even though it resulted in a big win for his hometown team.<\/p>\n

Cube app<\/a>eared on\u00a0The Pat McAfee Show\u00a0<\/em>last Monday (January 15) to talk all things basketball. During the chat, he shared his thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers winning the NBA\u2019s inaugural In-Season Tournament<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The tournament, which the Lakers won in early December by beating the Indiana Pacers 123\u2013109, is \u201ca new annual competition for all 30 teams,\u201d according to the league. It consisted of a total of 67 game<\/a>s across two stages, group play and knockout rounds. Each match counted as a regular season game.<\/p>\n

Cube was dismissive of his team\u2019s victory when he spoke to McAfee, which you can see at the 3:41 mark below.<\/p>\n

Cube said that the Lakers winning the tournament\u2019s NBA Cup was not the same thing as a championship banner.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if I count that as a banner. I think that\u2019s more of a certificate,\u201d he joked. \u201cWe usually don\u2019t hang nothing up but championship banners, so I guess this is cool if we need some extra window dressing. But for the most part, it\u2019s a napkin.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ice Cube\u2019s involvement in basketball goes far deeper than just being a fan. In addition to being a lifelong fan of the NBA, he is also the founder of the BIG3 basketball league<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, 50 Cent publicly said that he wanted to bring Cube\u2019s league to Shreveport, Louisiana, where the \u201cIn Da Club\u201d rapper is setting up his new G-Unit Film & TV studio.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had so much fun at the Boston\/Rockets game man,\u201d 50 wrote on Instagram last week. \u201cI told @icecube I want to bring the big 3 to Shreveport, all roads lead to Shreveport it\u2019s a go!\u201d<\/p>\n

BIG3 teams are not tied to a particular city. Instead, the league\u00a0schedules games at arenas and stadiums in locations around the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
