One of Apple\u2019s requirements under the DMA <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is ending its mandatory 30% fee for in-app purchases. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tech giant must also <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">allow consumers to uninstall pre-installed <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">apps<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and replace them with third-party ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These new rules will enable <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">users of apps like Spotify<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to purchase audiobooks and subscriptions directly in-app. The music streaming giant could then bypass the 30% commission, a fee which it says it has been forced to \u201cpass on to customers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> for some, Apple made it clear it is furious about the new features. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The DMA requires changes to this system that bring greater risks to users and developers,\u201d it said. \u201cThis includes new avenues for malware, fraud and scams, illicit and harmful content, and other privacy and security threats.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company has always insisted, without any particular evidence, that allowing other engines to operate on its devices is a security and performance risk.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Changes_for_developers\"><\/span><b>Changes for developers<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps the most affected by the changes are developers, who will be able to take payments and distribute apps from outside of the App Store for the first time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apple is also changing its commission structure <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">so that developers will pay 17% on subscriptions and in-app purchases with the fee reducing to 10% for \u201cmost developers\u201d after the first year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But of course, there\u2019s a catch. For the first time, developers who don\u2019t exclusively use the App Store will be charged a \u201ccore <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> fee\u201d of \u20ac0.50 for each app installation, which would apply to apps with 1 million downloads or more.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Apple, the new fee structure will result in most developers paying the company less with less than they currently do, since the core technology fee will have the greatest impact on larger developers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, this change is likely to be economically challenging for some sectors like free-to-play gaming that have a small core of users who pay money and many more who do not.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tim Sweeney, the founder of Epic <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>s, described the changes on <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimSweeneyEpic\/status\/1750589570880516402?s=20\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">X<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as \u201chot garbage.\u201d Epic, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the maker of free-to-play game Fortnite, famously withdrew its hit game from the App Store after disagreeing with its policies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are forcing developers to choose between App Store exclusivity and the store terms, which will be illegal under DMA, or accept a new also-illegal anticompetitive scheme rife with new Junk Fees on downloads and new Apple taxes on payments they don\u2019t process,\u201d he said.<\/span>\n                        <\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
