Production has begun on Star Trek: Section 31<\/em>. The film, a spin-off of the Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> TV series<\/a> on Paramount+, was announced in April 2023.<\/p>\n

With the start of filming, several cast additions have been revealed. Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao are joining Michelle Yeoh in the film. The movie\u2019s story follows Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Yeoh) as she works to protect the United Federation of Planets as part of a secret division within Starfleet.<\/p>\n

Paramount+ revealed more about Section 31 in a press release.<\/p>\n

Paramount+ today announced that production has begun in Toronto on\u00a0STAR TREK: SECTION 31<\/em>, an original movie event starring Academy Award\u00a0winner Michelle Yeoh. In\u00a0STAR TREK: SECTION 31<\/em>, Yeoh will reprise her fan-favorite role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou \u2013 a character she played in\u00a0STAR TREK: DISCOVERY\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0first season \u2013 who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.<\/p>\n

In addition, it was announced that Omari Hardwick (Power<\/em>), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal<\/em>), Emmy winner Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso<\/em>), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece<\/em>), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim<\/em>), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia<\/em>) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry<\/em>) have joined the cast of the original movie event.<\/p>\n

A premiere date for the Section 31<\/em> movie will be announced later.<\/p>\n

A fifth and final season of\u00a0Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> was ordered in January 2022, and the ten episodes are expected to begin being released on Paramount+ in April.<\/p>\n
