The Weeknd has generated monumental streaming numbers over his career, and with billions of streams coming from one of his most popular songs alone.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (January 31), Chart Data<\/em> reported that the Canadian singer\u2019s sole collaboration with Daft Punk has now surpassed three billion streams on Spotify.<\/p>\n

\u201cStarboy\u201d<\/a> is the title track of the 33-year-old\u2019s third studio album, which was released in 2016 to critical acclaim. It debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, won Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards and has since been certified four-times platinum by the RIAA.<\/p>\n

With his latest achievement, the Pop\/R&B titan has become the first artist to have more than one song garner over 3 billion plays on the Swedish music platform.<\/p>\n

Last month, The Weeknd broke yet another Spotify record with his 2020 megahit, \u201cBlinding Lights.\u201d According to a press release sent out in mid-January, the Max Martin-produced joint from After Hours<\/em> became the first song to cross over four billion streams on the app<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never stop being humbled by anything I create making its way to millions of people let alone billions!\u201d the superstar wrote in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m so thankful this song makes people feel a way that they keep going back to listen.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is also worth nothing that same hit reach 2.5 billion streams on the audio provider just a year after its release, becoming the fastest song in history to reach said milestone.<\/p>\n

The blockbuster track also surpassed Ed Sheeran\u2019s \u201cShape of You\u201d and became the No. 1 streamed song in Spotify history in early 2023.<\/p>\n

The news<\/a> came soon after The Weeknd ended the previous year as one of the most-streamed artists on the service. On New Year\u2019s Eve, he took to Twitter<\/a> to celebrate the feat by sharing his Daily Global chart stats, which he captioned: \u201cFOR NEW YEARS ???\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
