{"id":60745,"date":"2020-09-05T00:29:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-04T21:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/michael-rainey-jr-s-tariq-returns-in-new-power-spinoff\/"},"modified":"2020-09-05T00:29:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-04T21:29:00","slug":"michael-rainey-jr-s-tariq-returns-in-new-power-spinoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/michael-rainey-jr-s-tariq-returns-in-new-power-spinoff\/","title":{"rendered":"#Michael Rainey Jr.\u2019s Tariq returns in new \u2018Power\u2019 spinoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Michael Rainey Jr.\u2019s Tariq returns in new \u2018Power\u2019 spinoff<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-wrapper\" role=\"main\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>        September 4, 2020 <span>|<\/span> 5:29pm         <\/p>\n<p>                <span><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XkTP1QTRWDA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent\" title=\"Video\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n                        Michael Rainey Jr. returns as Tariq St. Patrick in the \u201cPower\u201d spinoff \u201cPower Book II: Ghost,\u201d premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. on Starz.<\/p>\n<p>Rainey, 19, says he\u2019s feeling \u201canxious\u201d about his first starring role in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a lot of emotions,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m kind of nervous about the first episode but, more than anything, I\u2019m excited for people to see the new world of \u2018Power.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s still similar to the original [series] but now it\u2019s more youthful,\u201d he says. \u201cWe have a different energy and it\u2019s definitely going to be a lot more playful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPower Book II: Ghost\u201d continues where \u201cPower\u201d left off, with Tariq having killed his father, Patrick \u201cGhost\u201d St. James (Omari Hardwick). His mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), took the fall and is currently incarcerated and on trial for murder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first few episodes are constant hustles for Tariq,\u201d Rainey says. \u201cHe has to make sure he\u2019s on point with getting good grades in school so he can graduate and inherit his trust fund \u2014 and, on top of that, he has to be in the streets and get the money for his mom\u2019s lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel like Ghost prepped Tariq for this new life, but it was inevitable and was bound to h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en,\u201d he says. \u201cHe\u2019s his son, so I feel like that\u2019s the hustler mentality in his blood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a Ghost trait in Tariq.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rainey, who\u2019s been home-schooled since the first grade, admits that he can\u2019t really relate to Tariq\u2019s life in college.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve never been to a regular school and I have no experience in the classroom \u2026 but I kind of get what school is about,\u201d he says. \u201cI used to sneak into my friend\u2019s high school. I used to just go there all the time and chill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPower Book II\u201d also introduces two new characters, powerful family matriarch Monet Stewart Monet (Mary J. Blige) and high-powered defense lawyer David MacLean (Method Man).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16249044\"><img alt=\"Michael Rainey Jr.\" data- data- height=\"441\" width=\"662\"><\/img><figcaption><span>Michael Rainey Jr.<\/span><span>JoJo Whilden<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, they\u2019re legends,\u201d Rainey says. \u201cI always heard their music being played when I was little. My mom would be cleaning the house and she listened to Mary J. Blige. So to work with her now is dope \u2014 like, who would have ever thought?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd me and Method Man\u2019s son actually played football together in the same league when I was like 9 or 10,\u201d he says. \u201cSo it\u2019s kind of like a \u2018full circle\u2019 moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rainey says Tariq has his priorities in order as the series gets underway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main goal for Tariq right now is definitely getting his mom out of jail because \u2026 he doesn\u2019t want her being there for something he did,\u201d he says. \u201cAll that happened because of him.
