The Mat furniture collection includes two unique chairs \u2013 one made from hemp, a type of cannabis plant, and one made from a combination of hemp and eelgrass \u2013 a marine plant much like seaweed. The shells are created from hemp stems instead of leaves, and the stems are sourced from farms that usually treat them as a waste product. The hemp fibers are combined with dried eelgrass to build the eelgrass chair. The milled hemp and eelgrass fibers are transformed into a sheet material and then shaped using a specially developed compression machine. The fibers are mixed with a \u201cbico binder\u201d to make the chairs easily recyclable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea of using a bio-based binder is appealing since it\u2019s a natural material and would reduce the use of oil,\u201d said S\u00f8ren Stryhn Petersen, chief <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> officer at Normann Copenhagen. \u201cHowever, since the beginning of this project, it has been very important for us that the material we use can be recycled,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-474672\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yankodesign.com\/images\/design_news\/2024\/02\/mat-chair\/mat_chair_yanko_design_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"1027\" data-jpibfi-post-excerpt=\"\" data-jpibfi-post-url=\"https:\/\/www.yankodesign.com\/2024\/02\/07\/these-unique-one-of-a-kind-chairs-are-made-using-hemp-eelgrass\/\" data-jpibfi-post-title=\"These Unique &amp;
