{"id":608012,"date":"2024-02-09T23:30:39","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T20:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/rza-revisits-j-dillas-best-wu-tang-clan-collabs\/"},"modified":"2024-02-09T23:30:39","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T20:30:39","slug":"rza-revisits-j-dillas-best-wu-tang-clan-collabs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/rza-revisits-j-dillas-best-wu-tang-clan-collabs\/","title":{"rendered":"#RZA Revisits J Dilla&#8217;s Best Wu-Tang Clan Collabs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">RZA couldn\u2019t let J Dilla\u2018s birthday pass by unnoticed, especially since the duo have a short but impactful history together.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday (February 7), which would have been the late producer\u2019s 50th birthday, RZA hopped on his Wu Wednesday show on SiriusXM radio to pay tribute to the Detroit native, who passed away in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Ruler Zig-Zag-Zig Allah played two songs that Dilla produced for Raekwon\u2018s 2009 LP <em>Only Built 4 Cuban Linx\u2026 Pt. II<\/em> and reminisced about their creation. He recalled that Busta Rhymes was the bridge between Dilla and the Wu-Tang Clan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one of those joints Busta Rhymes had brought to the studio,\u201d RZA said of the album cut \u201c10 Bricks.\u201d \u201cHe was like, \u2018Yo God, Dilla made a joint just for the Wu.\u2019 And we passed it on to Chef and he blessed it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis track is one of them tracks I wish I produced myself. The way he chopped this sample, the way he caught this cadence, it was something that I was impressed with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can hear the songs, with RZA\u2019s commentary, below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed-placeholder\" data-youtube-id=\"vtJY-CSBHu0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"youtube-icon\" src=\"https:\/\/static.hiphopdx.com\/assets\/prod\/icons\/youtube-play.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.youtube.com\/vi\/vtJY-CSBHu0\/hqdefault.jpg\"><\/div>\n<p>During the show, RZA also played the J Dilla-produced \u201cHouse of Flying Daggers,\u201d and acknowledged that Jay Dee had done something unique.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was paying homage to the Wu, grabbing samples and tracks he thought that I would chop up and then interpreting them in his own way,\u201d the Abbot said. \u201cHe did a fantastic job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RZA\u2019s comments are in line with another time he talked about Dilla over a decade ago, at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mG_4MY0Mvcg\">a Red Bull Music Academy event<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen [Busta] played that shit, it was the first time \u2014 and I gotta admit this \u2014 it was the first time I heard somebody say that they had a RZA-inspired beat that sounded crushing, like how \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lSmUB2Pw1Vs\">Ice Water<\/a>\u2018 sounded when I first heard it,\u201d RZA said of \u201c10 Bricks\u201d at the 2010 gathering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo J Dilla, to me, really captured that fucking sound like no other producer.
