The spokesperson said the plane is not affiliated with the university, according to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/small-plane-lands-interstate-75-florida-e619a4b96a7d0dcd14036fecae6f9ccd\">Associated Press<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were scheduled to land about 3:15 here in Naples, and about two or three minutes before that, our tower received word from the pilots that they have, quote, \u2018lost both engines\u2019,\u201d the director of communications for Naples Airport, Robin King, told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/02\/09\/us\/plane-crash-florida-highway-naples.html\">The New York Times<\/a>. \u201cWe don\u2019t know exactly what that means. We lost contact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King added the plane crashed around two to three miles from the airport.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the plane crashing on the highway, the Collier County Sheriff\u2019s Office <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CollierSheriff\/status\/1756071353617137738?s=20\">announced<\/a> that a portion of the Interstate 75 will be closed for at least 24 hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The jet was operated by Hop-a-Jet Worldwide Charter, according to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flightaware.com\/live\/flight\/HPJ823\">FlightAware<\/a> aircraft tracker.
