You only caught one,\u201d the singer said after Charlamagne Tha God noted that Ursh paid tribute to Michael Jackson during the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou caught Michael. Did you catch Marvin [Gaye]? Did you catch the back leg pop for James Brown?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Usher also revealed that he went shirtless to honor Bobby Brown (see <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Gw0LQiynyG0#t=1m38s\">here<\/a> for a quintessential example) and wore a tank top as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fteddy-pendergrass-circa-1980-he-followed-in-the-line-of-sam-v0-hbrcabn2rei81.jpg%3Fwidth%3D640%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D41dd66b9f862f4067d9b5764d9cb0f6e121d8fca\">a nod to Teddy Pendergrass.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He said that moments in the show paid tribute as well to Luther Vandross, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe piano moment was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZcHPNUN-U8E\">Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway<\/a>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delivering in all things that I do when I bring the culture of what I am and what has made me who I am everywhere I go, even right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moderndrummer.com\/2024\/02\/usher-halftime-show-features-empty-drum-set-as-tribute-to-aaron-spears\/\"><em>Modern Drummer<\/em><\/a> revealed another Easter egg in Usher\u2019s Super Bowl show: an empty golden drum set that was placed on stage in remembrance of Aaron Spears, the beloved drummer for Usher and many others such as Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"instagram-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C3iBFGqLrUR\/embed\" width=\"320\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During that same\u00a0<em>Breakfast Club<\/em> interview, Usher also addressed his controversial hug with Alicia Keys\u00a0at the Super Bowl, as well as the time he sl<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed his head off\u00a0Nicki Minaj\u2019s\u00a0butt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn no way should anything done there be viewed as bad or perverted or anything like that. It was literally about having fun because of a song that me and Alicia made many years ago,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd we celebrated because of the legacy of it. And no disrespect to anybody or anything like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Charlamagne Tha God then asked Usher if he, Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz have shared a laugh about the reactions to the hug.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cCaught Up\u201d star replied: \u201cAbsolutely we laughed about it. It\u2019s crazy how people [focused on] that. It\u2019s all about how you present things, man. But it\u2019s all love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Usher also discussed slapping his head off Nicki Minaj\u2019s rear when they performed together at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, which went viral again after his Super Bowl performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was Jamaican culture,\u201d he said. \u201cThat was just a moment that was fun. And by the way, that was me playing my bass so I would have probably bumped my shoulder or my hand, but I had my bass in my hand so I just bopped off her body a little bit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGo back and look at the video and you\u2019ll understand \u2019cause I did it there for the first time.
