This new ad type allows brands to show up in search results when someone directly searches for a brand or business. <\/p>\n<p>Google has clarified that through Direct Business Search, only your business should appear in search results when your brand is queried, and charges will be incurred solely for leads from new customers.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1038259\/SEL_Post-text --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1693000027709-0\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"post-break\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Why we care.<\/strong> When users search for a specific brand on Google, their intent is to find that brand, not a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> service or product. If your competitors appear in the search results for queries related to your business\u2019s name, Google not only fails to fulfill user intent but also risks directing your customers to competitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First spotted.<\/strong> The issue was first flagged by Joy Hawkins, SEO consultant and founder of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sterlingsky.ca\/\">Sterling Sky Inc<\/a>, on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoyanneHawkins\/status\/1760657441862172992\">X<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cI wonder how many of these businesses know they\u2019re bidding on a competitor\u2019s name. Really dislike this rollout with Local Services Ads. I don\u2019t see how it\u2019s better for anyone.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hawkins shared a screenshot of the Google SERP for the query \u201ca1 garage door service\u201d in January 2024:<\/p>\n<figure you can disable it by manually adjusting the settings for your campaign. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What Google is saying.<\/strong> Google Ads Liaison Officer Ginny Marvin responded to Hawkins\u2019 post on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adsliaison\/status\/1761072406234321215\">X<\/a>, writing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThis is a bug (and it was thought to be a
