Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> may be coming to an end. While getting ready to host the Oscars for a fourth time, Kimmel spoke about the possibility of walking away from the ABC late-night series<\/a> once his contract ends in two years.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> series was renewed through its 23rd season in September 2022. The renewal made Kimmel one of American television\u2019s longest-running talk show hosts. The series premiered in January 2003.<\/p>\n

Kimmel said the following about ending his time on the ABC series, per The Los Angeles Times:<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hard to yearn for it when you\u2019re doing it. [Laughs] Wednesday night, I was very tired and I had all these script<\/a>s to go through \u2014 I had to revise and rewrite all these pitch ideas for the Oscars \u2014 and I was literally nodding off onto my computer. In those moments, I think, \u2018I cannot wait until my contract is over.\u2019 But then, I take the summer off or I go on strike, and you start going, \u2018Yeah, I miss the fun stuff.\u2019 \u2026<\/p>\n

I think this is my final contract. I hate to even say it, because everyone\u2019s laughing at me now \u2014 each time I think that, and then it turns out to be not the case. I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good. That seems like enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Kimmel also spoke about what he would do next if he does end Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> He said the following:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know exactly what I will do. It might not be anything that anyone other than me is aware of. I have a lot of hobbies \u2014 I love to cook, I love to draw, I imagine myself learning to do sculptures. I know that when I die, if I\u2019m fortunate enough to die on my own terms in my own bed, I\u2019m going to think, \u2018Oh, I was never able to get to this, and I was never able to get to that.\u2019 I just know it about myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
