\n The 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards are underway, and The Bear<\/em>\u2018s Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri and Beef<\/em>\u2018s Ali Wong have scored the first wins at the ceremony. <\/p>\n

\n The Bear<\/em> star picked up his second consecutive SAG Award for his lead role in the FX comedy series<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m so honored to be in this community,\u201d said White. \u201cI\u2019ve wanted to be a part of this community for my whole life. I had no backup plan. I started very young, and I\u2019m just so incredibly touched to be standing in front of you all today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n White\u2019s co-star Ayo Edebiri won for best actress in a comedy series for The Bear<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m looking out at this room of people whose work moves me and motivates me and makes me feel and laugh,\u201d she said before announcing she\u2019d butcher a James Baldwin quote she had recently read. \u201cThe act of love is just really an act of mirroring, and I think anything that anybody sees in me that\u2019s worth anything is because of the people who love me and support me and it made me who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Winning best actress in a limited series, Beef<\/em>\u2019s Ali Wong thanked Netflix, which is both streaming this year\u2019s SAG Awards and also released Beef<\/em>, noting that the company has supported her since the debut of her 2016 special Baby Cobra.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n Pedro Pascal beat Succession<\/em>\u2019s awards-show streak, taking the prize for best actor in a drama for HBO\u2019s The Last of Us<\/em>. Even the star app<\/a>eared surprised by the win. \u201cThis is wrong for a number of reasons \u2014 I\u2019m a little drunk,\u201d said Pascal. \u201cI thought I could<\/em> get drunk!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n In the pre-show, HBO\u2019s The Last of Us<\/em> won the TV stunt performance category, while Mission: Impossible \u2013 Dead Reckoning Part One<\/em> win the respective film category.<\/p>\n

\n Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, Hannah Waddingham and Idris Elba kicked off the show with the annual \u201cI Am an Actor\u201d presentation, sharing personal anecdotes of their career highlights. Elba also introduced the awards show from the stage, noting that for the first time the ceremony is streaming live on Netflix and cursing is allowed \u2014 within reason. \u201cHere\u2019s a good rule of thumb: Maybe don\u2019t say anything you wouldn\u2019t say in front of Oprah,\u201d said Elba.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n The Hijack<\/em> star also took the opportunity to address the biggest elephant in the room: last year\u2019s SAG-AFTRA strike. \u201cIt is especially meaningful to be here all together for this occasion after going through a very difficult time with the strike,\u201d said Elba. \u201cI want to take this moment to honor and appreciate all of you both here and watching at home who stood up for SAG-AFTRA in solidarity and support.\u201d<\/p>\n
