\n Following a years-long development process, App<\/a>le will officially make a TV series<\/a> based on William Gibson\u2019s acclaimed sci-fi novel Neuromancer.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n The tech giant and streamer has handed out a 10-epoisode series order to the drama based on the 1984 cyberpunk novel that launched Gibson\u2019s career and the so-called Sprawl trilogy that also includes novels Count Zero <\/em>(1986) and Mona Lisa Overdrive <\/em>(1988).<\/p>\n

\n Dark Winds <\/em>creator Graham Roland and JD Dillard (The Twilight Zone<\/em>) created the series for television. The series, a co-production between Skydance Television and Anonymous Content, will see Roland serve as showrunner with Dillard on board to direct the pilot.<\/p>\n

\n Apple says Neuromancer <\/em>revolves around a \u201cdamaged, top-rung super-hacker\u00a0named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly excited to be bringing this iconic property to Apple TV+,\u201d said creators and executive producers Roland and Dillard. \u201cSince we became friends nearly 10 years ago, we\u2019ve looked for something to team up on, so this collaboration marks a dream come true. Neuromancer<\/em> has inspired so much of the science<\/a> fiction that\u2019s come after it and we\u2019re looking forward to bringing television audiences into Gibson\u2019s definitive \u2018cyberpunk\u2019 world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Roland and Dillard will exec produce the series alongside Skydance TV\u2019s Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell, Drake\u2019s DreamCrew Entertainment\u2019s Adel \u201cFuture\u201d Nur and Jason Shrier\u00a0and Zack Hayden and author Gibson.<\/p>\n

\n Neuromancer <\/em>is Apple\u2019s latest collaboration with Skydance TV, joining sci-fi drama Foundation, The Big Door Prize <\/em>and the untitled Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson comedy series from David West Read.<\/p>\n

\n Apple also has a prolific relationship with Anonymous Content, with the company also collaborating on Jessica Chastain vehicle The Savant, <\/em>Taika Waititi\u2019s Time Bandits, <\/em>Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n\u2019s Disclaimer<\/em>; The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey<\/em>, Dickinson<\/em> and Defending Jacob<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n Neuromancer <\/em>has had a troubled development history, with several attempts at a film (and one video game<\/a>) fizzling before they could get off the ground. Deadpool <\/em>director Tim Miller most recently tried to helm an adaption for Fox back in 2017.<\/p>\n

\n The order for Neuromancer <\/em>comes after Amazon previously adapted Gibson\u2019s 2014 book The Peripheral <\/em>as a TV series in 2022. Despite renewing the drama starring Chloe Grace Moretz from Westworld <\/em>producers Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan, Amazon ultimately canceled plans for the second season.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
