J. Cole is widely considered to be part of Hip Hop\u2019s \u201cBig Three\u201d alongside Drake and Kendrick Lamar, but Joe Budden believes he\u2019s clear of both of them.<\/p>\n

The Dreamville rapp<\/a>er gave fans a taste of new music earlier in February through a Smack DVD<\/em>-inspired vlog.<\/p>\n

During a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast<\/em>, Budden praised the song snippet and praised Cole as his number one rapper ahead of Drizzy and K. Dot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got Cole as my one,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m hoping that Kendrick\u2019s next album could try to fix that for me. Drake is doing his Chuck E. Cheese shit. Good for him. That\u2019s it now. Yeah, that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joe Budden went on to share his excitement about J. Cole\u2019s upcoming album The Fall Off<\/em>, which has been teased as his last.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember when Kendrick dropped the title of the last shit and we were trying to figure out what that meant?\u201d he asked his co-hosts. \u201cWhen I heard The Fall Off<\/em> and with him hinting at maybe retirement, I thought that would be the marriage between concept and title.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut after watching some of these vlog clips where he\u2019s just in the restaurant talking to the older lady that doesn\u2019t know who he is. Classic J. Cole. Perfect rollout shit again. This n-gga\u2019s the best at this.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAnd he\u2019s looking like he\u2019s even uncomfortable having to try to explain who he is to her and she\u2019s just talking about the state of the economy. Dawg, if this n-gga starts tying in The Fall Off<\/em> with all of this shit? Get him outta here. We know he can. We know he\u2019s a man of the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know for however many years he\u2019s just been talking to people like humans. From everywhere. Yo, The Fall Off<\/em>, if that\u2019s The Fall Off<\/em>. Oh, he is a sicko. We\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Budden\u2019s sentiment echoes that of fellow Slaughterhouse alumnus Royce Da 5\u20199\u2033, who crowned J. Cole the best of the \u201cBig Three\u201d following the release of Dreamville\u2019s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape<\/em> in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cCole as an Executive separates him from that 3 headed monster convo y\u2019all been having for the last 10 yrs,\u201d the Detroit rapper wrote on X (formerly Twitter<\/a>). \u201cPut some respek on my brother\u2019s name.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Royce still declared K. Dot the best lyricist of the three: \u201cAs a career yeah but as far as being an MC Kendrick is the best of the 3 still.\u201d<\/p>\n

J. Cole himself previously addressed the long-running debate and suggested he was in \u201cthird\u201d place behind Drake and Kendrick.<\/p>\n
