The latest update from Feb. 29 reported 41 confirmed cases spread across 16 states. However, several state health departments have also shared information about cases, some of which are reported between CDC tracking updates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s what those states are reporting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Arizona &#8211;<\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maricopa.gov\/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2877\"> Two cases<\/a> in Maricopa County<\/li>\n<li><strong>California<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; One <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/lacounty.gov\/2024\/02\/01\/public-health-confirms-measles-case-in-los-angeles-county\/\">case<\/a>\u00a0in Los Angeles County<\/li>\n<li><strong>Florida &#8211; <\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flhealthcharts.gov\/ChartsReports\/rdPage.aspx?rdReport=FrequencyMerlin.Frequency&amp;FirstTime=True\">Ten cases<\/a>\u00a0Broward and Polk counties<\/li>\n<li><strong>Georgia<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dph.georgia.gov\/epidemiology\/acute-disease-epidemiology\/vaccine-preventable-diseases\/measles\">One case<\/a>\u00a0in the Atlanta Metro area<\/li>\n<li><strong>Indiana &#8211; Nine\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.phila.gov\/2024-01-23-health-department-update-on-measles-outbreak-january-22\/\">confirmed cases<\/a>&#8211;eight in Philadelphia and one outside of that area<\/li>\n<li><strong>Virginia &#8211; <\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/measles\/#2024-exposure\">One case<\/a> in Loudoun County<\/li>\n<li><strong>Washington<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Six\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/kingcounty.gov\/en\/legacy\/depts\/health\/communicable-diseases\/health-care-providers\/advisories\/2024\/jan-12-measles\">cases in<\/a>\u00a0Clark and Wahkiakum counties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><cta-atoms-container-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/cta\" class=\"spacer-large\"><\/cta-atoms-container-inline><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"exclude-from-newsgate\"><strong style=\"margin-right:3px\">Florida measles guidelines: <\/strong>Florida surgeon <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> defies CDC recommendations as measles cases spread in state<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Measles_cases_reported_by_year\"><\/span>Measles cases reported by year<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The last major outbreak of measles in the U.S. occurred in 2019, when a total of 1,249 measles cases and 22 measles outbreaks were reported in the United States between Jan. 1 and Oct. 1.\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/wr\/mm6840e2.htm\">According to the CDC,<\/a>\u00a0this was the second-highest number of reported outbreaks since measles was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000 and the highest in a single year since 1992.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"600\" outstream=\"\" momentum=\"\"><\/partner-banner><partner-inline util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" class=\"spacer-large\" placement=\"native-article_link\" sizes=\"[[300, 250], [3, 3]]\" min-height=\"250\" fluid=\"\" outstream=\"\"><\/partner-inline>\n<p>Many of these cases came from an outbreak in New York City. Of the cases, 1,107, or 89%, were in patients who were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status.<\/p>\n<p>Children\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/vaccination.html\">receive MMR vaccines<\/a>\u00a0as part of the regular course between the ages of 12 and 15 months for the first dose and ages 4 to 6 for the second. The vaccine protects against\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/about\/index.html\">measles<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mumps\/index.html\">mumps<\/a>, and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/rubella\/index.html\">rubella<\/a>\u00a0and is 97% effective at preventing measles when both doses are given.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC also says that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/vpd\/mmr\/public\/index.html#:~:text=About%203%20out%20of%20100,the%20disease%20to%20other%20people.\">3 of 100 people that receive two doses of MMR<\/a> can still get measles if exposed to the virus; however, this usually leads to &#8220;milder illness.&#8221; This group of vaccinated people are also less likely to spread the disease to others, the CDC added<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2 wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Measles_symptoms\"><\/span>Measles symptoms<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/symptoms\/signs-symptoms.html\">According to the CDC<\/a>, measles symptoms <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear 7 to 14 days after contact with the virus and typically include high fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes. Measles rash appears 3 to 5 days after the onset of the first symptoms.<\/p>\n<partner-banner util-module-path=\"elements\/partner\" fluid=\"\" bottom=\"\" lazy=\"\" class=\"spacer-large\" min-height=\"390\" outstream=\"\"><\/partner-banner>\n<p><strong>Other signs and symptoms of measles include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High fever<\/li>\n<li>Cough<\/li>\n<li>Runny nose and sneezing<\/li>\n<li>Red, watery eyes<\/li>\n<li>Loss of appetite, diarrhea<\/li>\n<li>Reddish-brown rash that can spread across the entire body<\/li>\n<li>Koplik spots, tiny white spots that may appear inside the mouth two to three days after symptoms begin<\/li>\n<li>Small raised bumps may also appear on top of the flat red spots (the spots may become joined together as they spread from the head to the rest of the body)<\/li>\n<li>When the rash appears, a person\u2019s fever may spike to more than 104 degrees Fahrenheit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<lit-timestamp class=\"column ten-column no-gutter spacer-small\" slot=\"timestamp\" publishdate=\"2024-03-07 23:06:45 +0000 UTC\" updatedate=\"2024-03-07 23:10:22 +0000 UTC\"><\/lit-timestamp><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
