\n Dr. Dre is looking back on his 2021 brain aneurysm. <\/p>\n

\n In an interview on\u00a0SiriusXM\u2019s This Life of Mine with James Corden<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0the music hip-hop mogul recalled having \u201cthree strokes\u201d while in the hospital for his brain aneurysm\u00a0in 2021. <\/p>\n

\n At the time of his hospitalization, he told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u00a0in a statement, \u201cI\u2019m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n When reflecting on the frightening ordeal, Dre further revealed to Corden, \u201cIt\u2019s just something that you can\u2019t control that just happ<\/a>ens and during those two weeks, I had three strokes.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n When detailing what led to the trip<\/a> to the hospital initially, Dre recalled waking up with a feeling behind his right ear that turned into \u201cthe worst pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI got up and I went on about my day, and I thought that I could just lay down and take a nap. My son had a female friend that was there and was like, \u2018No, we need to take you to the hospital,’\u201d he said. \u201cSo they took me to urgent care.\u201d He was soon told it was \u201cserious.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n \u201cNext thing you know, I\u2019m blacking out. I\u2019m in and out of consciousness, and I ended up in the ICU. I was there for two weeks. I\u2019m hearing the doctors coming in and saying, \u2018You don\u2019t know how lucky you are.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n After asking the doctors what he could\u2019ve done to prevent the aneurysm, Dre said, \u201cNobody could give me an answer. I had no idea that I had high blood pressure or anything like that because I\u2019m on my health shit. I\u2019m lifting weights, I\u2019m running, I\u2019m doing everything I can to keep myself healthy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n \u201cHigh blood pressure in Black men, that\u2019s just what it is. They call it the silent killer,\u201d he continued. \u201cYou just have no idea, so you know, you have to keep your shit checked.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n Though he isn\u2019t sure whether that health scare made a \u201csignificant change\u201d in his life, Dre said the ordeal \u201cdefinitely makes you appreciate being alive that\u2019s for sure.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt\u2019s crazy, so now knowing that I had no control over that. It\u2019s just something that could happen out of the blue. You wake up and you go, \u2018Shit. OK, I\u2019m here.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Dre has been candid about his experience before, telling Dolvett Quince\u2019s\u00a0Workout the Doubt\u00a0<\/em>podcast<\/a> in 2022 that doctors thought he might die. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m at Cedars-Sinai hospital and they weren\u2019t allowing anybody to come up, meaning visitors or family or anything like that, because of COVID, but they allowed my family to come in. I found out later, they called them up so they could say their last goodbyes because they thought I was outta here,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

\n Part of his treatment included having to be woken up every hour for testing which left him exhausted. \u201cI didn\u2019t eat for two weeks\u201d and \u201cas soon as they\u2019d leave, I would try to go to sleep,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\n After being transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Jan. 4, 2021, Dre was eventually released on Jan. 16.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
