Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg go way back, so it comes as no surprise their recollections of the past don\u2019t always align.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday (March 19), soon after being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the veteran producer made an app<\/a>earance on Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> and brought Tha Doggfather out to join him.<\/p>\n

At one point during the interview, the conversation shifted to the Compton native\u2019 1992 landmark album The Chronic<\/em>, which also helped launch his peer\u2019s solo career. Both veterans, however, had entirely different explanations for how the LP\u2019s title was conceived.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first time smoking weed,\u201d Dre began. \u201cI was in the car in my driveway and I think we were halfway though the album, and there was a female [\u2026] It\u2019s my first time smoking weed, y\u2019know, and I asked what it was and that\u2019s what she told me and boom \u2014 here we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snoop, however, has a different story as he subsequently explained: \u201cWell, let me tell you my story. Me and my homies was in Long Beach, right, and it was a white guy that used to come through the apartments and bring us bud, and he had \u2018hydroponic.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we smoked it and started saying \u2018hydrochronic\u2019 and flipped it, and then that\u2019s when we started saying, \u2018Oh this weed is bomb \u2014 it\u2019s the chronic,\u2019 and Dre\u2019s album was so bomb, it only was right for [us] to call it The Chronic<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the same chat, the N.W.A legend also announced that Eminem is set to release a new album later this year, explaining that he had the Detroit MC\u2019s blessing to publicize the news<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I actually talked to him and he told me it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I\u2019ve got songs on it and it\u2019s fire. I\u2019m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cAnd he holds his music close to his chest so I haven\u2019t heard everything. I haven\u2019t even heard everything complete that I\u2019ve done, but I\u2019m gonna hear it, and he\u2019s putting out an album this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hands on. There\u2019s things that I have to mix that I\u2019ve done, but I get the chance to hear the album in its entirety.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
