Wu-Tang Clan have performed the final night of their nearly two-month long Las Vegas residency with a special surprise app<\/a>earance the crew\u2019s longtime associate Redman.<\/p>\n

\u201cWu-Tang Clan: The Saga Continues \u2026 The Las Vegas Residency\u201d closed out at The Theater at Virgin Hotels on Saturday night (March 24), following a 7-week run which kicked off on February 4.<\/p>\n

The show went as planned for most of the night, with the crew performing classic hits including \u201cProtect Ya Neck\u201d and C.R.E.A.M. as well as individual tracks hits and smaller posse cuts like Raekwon\u2018s \u201cIce Cream,\u201d Ghostface Killah\u2018s \u201cCherchez La Ghost\u201d and a handful of Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard releases performed by his son, Young Dirty Bastard.<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s twist happened when, after delivering the hook on \u201cIce Cream,\u201d Method Man started diving into his own catalogue. However, Saturday night\u2019s show saw him stop his performance of \u201cAll I Need\u201d short before telling the crowd that he wanted to \u201cget their energy up.\u201d<\/p>\n

He proceeded to launch into his opening verse of \u201cDa Rockwilder\u201d while still standing on stage alone. However, just as his name appeared on the on-stage screen, fans quickly began realizing that the Redman ad-libs they were hearing were live; and the Funk Doc emerged on cue for verse two as the crowd lost it.<\/p>\n

The duo proceeded to perform \u201cY.O.U.\u201d before reminding the crowd that they were among the earliest Hip Hop stars to loudly proclaim their affinity for marijuana as an intro to their iconic 1995 weed anthem \u201cHow High.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the surprise Red & Meth break, the Wu returned to business as usual, with Young Dirty Bastard jumping on stage with the seven living members of the crew who were in attendance (with GZA being the only one missing) closing out the evening with a rendition of \u201cTriumph.\u201d<\/p>\n

While it has become the most played version of their iconic duet, it seems neither Method Man nor Redman was originally in love with the \u201cHow High\u201d remix.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018How High,\u2019 Red and Meth wasn\u2019t happy about,\u201d Erick Sermon of the legendary EPMD revealed in an exclusive interview with\u00a0HipHopDX<\/em> on February 27.<\/p>\n

Sermon specified that he was talking about the remix, which samples the Silver Convention\u2019s 1975 jam \u201cFly, Robin, Fly.\u201d That version was used in the song\u2019s\u00a0video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made\u00a0the original version, which is the hard version<\/a>. But then when I made it popular with the \u2018Fly, Robin, Fly,\u2019 they was pissed. Because they come to the video shoot, and they\u2019re expecting to hear something else, and they hear this so-called \u2018commercial pop record.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cRussell [Simmons] and Lyor [Cohen] was there, and they made sure that it get done. [\u2026] And it went platinum.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
