Ron DeSantis (R) quickly endorsed Trump after dropping out of the race, but Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, so far has only called on Trump to convince her supporters to join him.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>This has fueled talk about Haley\u2019s intentions, sparking questions about whether she might sit out the election entirely and how that might affect her political future.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also created some worried for the GOP ahead of what is expected to be a razor-tight <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> election race against President Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Many Republicans think their party needs to unify as much as possible around their presumptive nominee to increase their odds of defeating Biden, and they see Haley as playing a key role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s going to have to be some sort of outreach with Nikki Haley,\u201d said Dave Wilson, a\u00a0South Carolina based GOP strategist. \u201cThe question is can the two of them mend fences.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley served as Trump\u2019s ambassador to the United Nations, working with him closely during his presidential term. But the two fell out as she challenged him for the GOP nomination and emerged as his strongest rival.<\/p>\n<p>Her decision to stay in the race as long as she did clearly bothered Trump.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Despite polling behind the ex-president in most state and national polls by double digits, Haley stayed in the race until the day after Super Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Haley said she did so to give Republican primary voters a choice. Even after a decisive loss to Trump in her home state, Haley and her supporters argued that the 40 percent of the vote she won was evidence of cracks in Trump\u2019s Republican coalition.<\/p>\n<p>To beat Biden, Trump needs as many of those voters to come to his side, and Haley could be a piece to the puzzle.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re the ones who are going to tip the needle one way or another,\u201d said one GOP strategist. \u201cIt\u2019s possible to earn their support, but it\u2019ll take some elbow grease and an olive branch. That percentage is huge for a primary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump has some work to do to win over Republicans voters in the suburbs, who have been moving away from the party. Some Republicans say that outreach could start with Haley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley is far from the only former Trump rival who has been cool to helping Trump.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>DeSantis earlier this week did not say whether he would campaign for his former ally turned rival in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not going to be a state that\u2019s competitive in November,\u201d DeSantis told reporters. \u201cSo, I don\u2019t anticipate there being much campaign here for the top of the ticket.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis did say he would be open to campaigning with Trump nationally.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI do think there\u2019s going to be some local races that are going to be very important that we\u2019ll be involved with,\u201d he said, referring to Florida.\u00a0\u201cAnd then how I can help nationally, I want to be able to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign lashed out at the remarks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRon really shouldn\u2019t flatter himself by assuming we\u2019d want him on the campaign trail. We\u2019re actually trying to win,\u201d Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>Nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy have taken to the airwaves to tout Trump\u2019s campaign. They\u2019ve also all been floated for a Cabinet position or to serve as Trump\u2019s running mate.<\/p>\n<p>Trump does have a history of burying the hatchet with former rivals, such as Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). He made jokes about the size of Trump\u2019s hands and other parts of his anatomy when the two were presidential contenders in 2016. Now he\u2019s being floated as a potential vice presidential pick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the moment they do not figure into the calculus but that can always change,\u201d GOP strategist Ford O\u2019Connell said of Haley and DeSantis. \u201cIt all depends on various things, do they want a spot at the convention?\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cMaybe he could call upon them for fundraising or campaigning,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Connell emphasized that the stakes for Haley, DeSantis, and other young Republicans are high since if he wins, there will be a new GOP nominee in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember, Trump can only serve four years therefore the stakes to replace him begin in exactly two years,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor their own futures \u2026 I don\u2019t think they have to go out of the way to be the biggest cheerleaders on team Trump, but the one thing they cannot afford to do is ever be blamed if he loses for being part of the reason why,\u201d the national Republican strategist said.\u00a0\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2024 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
