Drake Bell<\/strong> doesn\u2019t think Nickelodeon<\/strong>\u2018s response to Quiet on Set<\/em> was up to par.<\/p>\n

The Investigation Discovery<\/strong> docuseries<\/a> has brought to light some seriously disturbing details about actor and dialogue coach Brian Peck<\/strong>\u2018s sex offender conviction in 2004. Drake revealed he was the previously anonymous underage victim of Peck\u2019s abuse, back when he was just a kid working\u00a0on All That<\/em> and The Amanda Show<\/em>. This was part of a larger narrative of dangerous and toxic working conditions for the very young stars on Nick. And\u00a0the kids\u2019 TV network has responded.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Nickelodeon sent a statement to several outlets last week:<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that Drake Bell has disclosed his identity as the plaintiff in the 2004 case, we are dismayed and saddened to learn of the trauma he has endured, and we commend and support the strength required to come forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But Drake himself thinks the reaction to all the allegations was \u201cempty\u201d, as he told Sarah Fraser<\/strong> on her podcast The Sarah Fraser Show<\/em> Friday. In his first interview since the bombshell\u2019s release, the now 37-year-old blasted Nickelodeon\u2019s pat statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a very well-tailored response saying, \u2018Learning about his trauma,\u2019 because they couldn\u2019t say that they didn\u2019t know about this or know what had happ<\/a>ened, or anything. So I think that was a really well-tailored response by probably some big attorney in Hollywood. I find it pretty empty, their responses, because, I mean, they still show our shows, they still put our shows on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drake has had his share of problems as an adult. He recently revealed he only did the doc after completing a stint in rehab. He went on to point out how he\u2019s still \u201cpaying\u201d for his own therapy \u2014 while he feels the network just doesn\u2019t really care about his or the other stars\u2019 mental well-being:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I have to pay for my own therapy, I have to figure out what \u2014 I mean, if there was anything, if there was any truth behind them actually caring, there would be something more than quotes on a page by obviously a legal representative telling them exactly how to tailor a response.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Drake also hit back at the network\u2019s characterization that they ever did their own investigation. He told Sarah his father, Joe Bell<\/strong>, often flagged \u201cuncomfortable\u201d behavior by adults towards minors at the time \u2014 but Nick execs always brushed it off:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey would shoo him away. If that\u2019s their idea of an investigation, it\u2019s very faulty, and I don\u2019t think that they would discover anything with an investigation like, \u2018Oh, you don\u2019t understand, he\u2019s just that way. That\u2019s just how he is.\u2019 I mean, that\u2019s not an investigation, so that\u2019s a bold-faced lie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Oof. At this point, there are just too many former child stars coming forward, especially about\u00a0Dan Schneider<\/strong>, to believe no one else at Nick knew anything.<\/p>\n
