Melissa Joan Hart<\/strong> is opening up about her time on Nickelodeon<\/strong> and how it compared to the allegations in Quiet on Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV<\/em>.<\/p>\n

While app<\/a>earing on the Meghan McCain Has Entered The Chat<\/em> podcast on Thursday, the actress revealed she\u2019s yet to watch the upsetting documentary. That\u2019s mostly because she knows she\u2019ll \u201cget worked up\u201d and hasn\u2019t wanted to do that right before bed. Understandable.<\/p>\n

That said, she had plenty of thoughts on the allegations made about the behind-the-scenes happenings at the kids\u2019 channel from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, mostly as it pertained to Dan Schneider<\/strong>\u2018s shows.<\/p>\n

As the star of Clarissa Explains It All<\/em> in the early 1990s, this obviously put the Sabrina the Teenage Witch<\/em> lead in the era of all the disturbing allegations. But the 47-year-old said she \u201chad nothing but a wonderful experience\u201d \u2014 except, maybe, for the \u201clong hours.\u201d She recalled:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did work the kids a lot harder than they probably legally should.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That said, it wasn\u2019t anything overly problematic. It was just hard to navigate her young working life with her busy \u201cschedule,\u201d as she noted:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a ton of fun, it was just long hours, that\u2019s all \u2014 because I had to do school and the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/div>\n

But as for why her experience may have been so different, there is<\/em> an important distinction. Melissa noted she worked at the Nickelodeon studio in Orlando, Florida from 1989 to 1994 \u2014 and not<\/em> in\u00a0Hollywood, California, which was the center of the allegations in the doc. So, she was around a very different set of people! She explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was surrounded by an amazing crew, an incredible cast that took such good care of me\u2026 And so I don\u2019t know if it was the difference in Orlando or the time period, whoever these guys were, they weren\u2019t around, but I have to say, not every egg in the Nickelodeon basket is rotten.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She was always \u201cvery protected and very safe\u201d on set. And that\u2019s even when her mother \u201cleft her alone a lot,\u201d or wasn\u2019t there for whatever reason:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were some people that really took care of me. To be honest, a few of them are still my very best friends. So from the producers down to, you know, the sound guys, all took care of me and\u2026 we were a wonderful family.\u201d<\/p>\n

But just because she doesn\u2019t have any horror stories on set, it doesn\u2019t mean she doesn\u2019t stand with the survivors speaking up. She insisted:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know other people\u2019s experiences. I\u2019m not negating anything anyone else says. I\u2019ve never been told these people\u2019s stories that are in the [documentary]. And I have to say I\u2019ve never heard a story from a Nickelodeon star personally. No one\u2019s come to me and talked to me about any of these situations, and that\u2019s not to say anything about anyone\u2019s story. I absolutely trust and believe them 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
