TRIGGER<\/strong> has announced the launch of the Gurren Lagann Vs Kill la Kill Exhibition this summer. The exhibition is a collaboration between the anime<\/a> studio and ANIPLEX.<\/span><\/p>\n

A collaboration visual drawn by animator Sushio<\/strong> (Kill la Kill<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>character designer, One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island\u00a0<\/em>co-character designer, Gurren Lagann<\/em> key animator), featuring the characters of Gurren Lagann<\/em> and Kill la Kill<\/em>, was also released.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Gainax<\/strong>-produced Gurren Lagann<\/em> TV series<\/a> premiered in 2007 and ran for 27 episodes. The mecha anime takes place in a future where mankind lives underground, with the discovery of a robot leading to a rebellion against the anti-human forces controlling the surface. Two compilation films, Gurren Lagann The Movie: Childhood\u2019s End<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Gurren Lagann The Movie: The Lights in the Sky are Stars<\/em>, were released in 2008 and 2009.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kill la Kill<\/em> premiered in 2013 and ran for 25 episodes. It was Trigger\u2019s first full TV series production. The story begins with the scissor blade-wielding school girl Ryuko Matoi arriving in Honnouji Academy to avenge her father.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Both anime were directed by\u00a0Hiroyuki Imaishi\u00a0<\/strong>(Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt<\/i>, Promare<\/em>, Cyberpunk Edgerunners<\/em>). Imaishi and his Gurren Lagann<\/em> assistant director Masahiko Otsuka<\/strong> (Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt<\/i>, Promare<\/em>, Trigger president) co-founded Trigger with producer Kazuya Masumoto <\/strong>in 2011. Akira Amemiya<\/strong> (director of SSSS.Gridman<\/em>, SSSS.Dynazenon<\/em>, and Gridman Universe<\/em>) was assistant director on Kill la Kill<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gurren Lagann<\/em>\u2018s character designer is Atsushi Nishigori<\/strong> (Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt<\/i>, The Idolmaster <\/em>director and character designer, Darling in the Franxx <\/em>director and co-series composer, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time<\/em> co-character designer).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
