So Perplexity plans to add relevant, related brand-sponsored questions along with organic questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brand safety.<\/strong> It will be \u201ca paramount priority,\u201d Dmitry Shevelenko, Perplexity\u2019s chief business officer, told Adweek.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1038259\/SEL_Post-text --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1693000027709-0\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"post-break\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>When.<\/strong> Details are few. All we know is it is coming \u201cin the upcoming quarters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care.<\/strong> Perplexity, founded in August 2022, has a much smaller user base (a self-reported 15 million monthly active users) than the likes of Google, Microsoft Bing and AI rival ChatGPT. However, Google, OpenAI and other AI-powered search engines have yet to figure out how to reliably monetize AI search. So it will be interesting to see whether Google or other companies follow this path.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Perplexity vs. ads.<\/strong> On its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.perplexity.ai\/hub\/about\">About page<\/a>, Perplexity says:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cPerplexity was founded on the belief that searching for information should be a straightforward, efficient experience, free from the influence of advertising-driven models.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, Shevelenko said:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cAdvertising was always part of how we\u2019re going to build a great business.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a separate recent <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/founder-perplexity-ai-sundar-pichai-competing-to-reinvent-search\/\">interview with Wired<\/a> (sub<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion required), Perplexity founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas discussed ads, said he wasn\u2019t against advertising. In fact, his vision for advertising on the platform is to help advertisers understand who is searching and then bid on the most \u201chigh-value traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cAds are not evil. When ads are done right it\u2019s amazing, and generative AI is going to help us build even better targeting.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a stark contrast from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who doesn\u2019t love ads.
