Jay Master Jay was tragically murdered in New York 22 years ago, and now, after two people have been found guilty, the final suspect in the case is reportedly considering a plea deal.<\/p>\n

The Associated Press<\/a><\/em> is reporting that prosecutors are considering a plea for Jay Bryant, 50, though it is not clear what the deal comprises. Both sides are due to file a status report by August 5.<\/p>\n

Neither Bryant nor his lawyer, C\u00e9sar de Castro, issued a comment after the court meeting on Thursday (April 4).<\/p>\n

Should the two sides not come to a resolution, they are due to commence the trial in January 2025.<\/p>\n

Last year,\u00a0Jay Bryant (49) became the third person to be charged in the case.<\/p>\n

Back in February, the trial of two of the three defendants concluded in New York, and\u00a0Karl Jordan, Jr., and Ronald Washington were found guilty on all counts.<\/p>\n

The trio are believed to have entered JMJ\u2019s studio and fled after the fatal shooting, with Jordan firing two shots at the victim at close range, including one to the head that killed him. Prosecutors were able to prove that Bryant was seen entering the building immedia<\/a>tely before the shooting and left behind an article of clothing at the crime scene, which contained his DNA.<\/p>\n

An investigation revealed that the slaying was over a drug deal gone wrong, with Jam Master Jay allegedly acquiring roughly 10 kilograms of cocaine (worth an estimated $1.7 million) from a Midwest narcotics supplier months before his death.<\/p>\n

When the Hip Hop pioneer sought to exclude Jordan and Washington from the large, multi-state drug deal, they \u201cmurdered him in cold blood,\u201d prosecutors said in their 2020 indictment against the two men.<\/p>\n

After Jordan and Washington\u2019s convictions, the Run-D.M.C. legends\u2019 two sons addressed the notion that the legendary beatmaker was murdered because of his involvement in drug trafficking.<\/p>\n

Maurice and TJ Mizell recently joined\u00a0CBS News<\/a><\/em>\u2018 for an app<\/a>earance on \u201cAfter The Verdict,\u201d which will air in its entirety on Tuesday (March 19) at 11pm ET. In a preview released ahead of time, both men adamantly speak out against the notion that the late\u00a0Run-DMC\u00a0star was selling cocaine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly believe that [the narrative he was selling cocaine because he needed money] is false,\u201d the pair said. \u201cWe believe that obviously there was money involved and whether that was his money or not, it\u2019s not like he was selling drugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cJam Master Jay was also known for buying cars for everyone on the block on Christmas. When Christmas came around, three people were getting a Toyota, y\u2019know? And we have a big family and we never longed for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
