J. Cole\u2018s Might Delete Later<\/em> has reportedly earned the top sales of the week, if the latest projections are to be believed.<\/p>\n

Hits Daily Double<\/a><\/em> is reporting that the first-week projections for the latest Coleworld\/Interscope release are that it will move 140-160,ooo copies in the first week, making it a likely contender for the top of the charts.<\/p>\n

However, Cole still has to go up against Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Cowboy Carter<\/em>, which is proving to be quite the juggernaut.<\/p>\n

Might Delete Later<\/em>, which dropped on Friday (April 5), made headlines immedia<\/a>tely thanks to its closing track \u201c7 Minute Drill,\u201d where J. Cole app<\/a>ears to reference Kendrick Lamar\u2019s recent disses at him and Drake, and returns fire with some scathing bars of his own.<\/p>\n

Taking aim at the perceived quality of his friend-turned-foe\u2019s catalog, he raps:\u00a0\u201cYour\u00a0first shit\u00a0was classic, your\u00a0last shit\u00a0was tragic\/ Your\u00a0second shit\u00a0put n-ggas to sleep, but they gassed it\/ Your\u00a0third shit\u00a0was massive and that was your prime\/ I was trailin\u2019 right behind and I just now hit mine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He continues:\u00a0\u201cNow I\u2019m front of the line with a comfortable lead\/ How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin\u2019 with me\/ Well, he caught me at the perfect time, jump up and see.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The Dreamville boss also channels\u00a0JAY-Z\u2018s \u201cTakeover\u201d diss at\u00a0Nas:\u00a0\u201cHe averagin\u2019 one hard verse like every 30 months or somethin\u2019\/ If he wasn\u2019t dissin\u2019, then we wouldn\u2019t be discussin\u2019 him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He then compares his sparring match with Kendrick, who he\u00a0once planned to record an album with, to the scene in\u00a0New Jack City<\/em>\u00a0where Wesley Snipes\u2019 character Nino Brown tearfully kills his brother.<\/p>\n

\u201cLord, don\u2019t make me have to smoke this n-gga \u2019cause I fuck with him\/ But push come to shove, on this mic, I will humble him\/ I\u2019m Nino with this thing, this that \u2018New Jack City\u2019 meme\/ Yeah, I\u2019m aimin\u2019 at Gee Money, cryin\u2019 tears before I bust at him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This sentiment is repeated later in Cole\u2019s verse when he raps:\u00a0\u201cMy text flooded with the hunger for a toxic reply\/ I\u2019m hesitant, I love my brother, but I\u2019m not gonna lie\/ I\u2019m powered up for real, that shit would feel like swattin\u2019 a fly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He then repurposes another line from Hov\u2019s \u201cTakeover\u201d:\u00a0\u201cFour albums in 12 years, n-gga, I can divide\/ Shit, if this is what you want, I\u2019m indulgin\u2019 in violence.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Cole ends the fiery song with a warning to the rest of the rap game<\/a> while teasing his upcoming album\u00a0The Fall Off<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is merely a warning shot to back n-ggas down\/ Back in the town where they whippin\u2019 work and traffickin\u2019 pounds\/ My jack jumpin\u2019 \u2019bout a rapper makin\u2019 blasphemous sounds\/ Switchin\u2019 sides like the tassel on the cap and the gown\/ I\u2019m fully loaded, n-gga, I can drop two classics right now,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he spits, before adding: \u201cLet me chill out, man\u2026\u00a0The Fall Off<\/em>\u00a0on the way, n-gga.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
