Lupe Fiasco is thrilled G. Dep has been released from prison, but he\u2019s welcoming the rapp<\/a>er back with a special request.<\/p>\n

The Chicago-born MC wants new music from the legendary Harlem spitter born Trevell Coleman, which he humbly shared on Thursday (April 4).<\/p>\n

Lupe took to X (formerly Twitter<\/a>) to send good wishes to the \u201cSpecial Delivery\u201d rapper, though his thoughts came with a wish of his own, too.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cGet G-Dep to the studio immediately! We need that follow up! [face with steam from nose emoji] Welcome Home!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bad Boys Records veteran was released from prison earlier this week. Late last year, the 49-year-old was one of 16 people who were granted clemency by New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Once his sentence was commuted, he became eligible for parole sooner than he would have.<\/p>\n

G. Dep\u2019s official Instagram page documented his release and subsequent celebrations, from being greeted with a prayer circle outside Fishkill Correctional Facility in upstate New York to enjoying his first post-prison meal at iHop.<\/p>\n

G. Dep\u2019s initial sentence of 15 years to life previously included stipulations that prevented him from requesting parole before the 15-year mark. His clemency grant, however, allowed him to petition the parole board after serving 13 years.<\/p>\n

Back in 1993, the then-18-year-old rapper tried to rob someone at gunpoint in East Harlem, New York. The victim, who was later identified as 32-year-old John Henkel, resisted the robbery, leading to Dep firing off three bullets and fleeing the scene without checking on his victim.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Henkel died from his injuries and law enforcement were unable to solve the murder until the case eventually went cold.\u00a0 Meanwhile, G. Dep signed a deal with\u00a0Diddy\u2018s label and went on to release his debut album\u00a0Child of the Ghetto<\/em>, spawning hits such as \u201cLet\u2019s Get It\u201d and the aforementioned \u201cSpecial Delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2010, Dep finally turned himself in, and was handed the aforementioned prison sentence two years later.<\/p>\n

Lupe was recently on the receiving end of praise from another Hip Hop icon.<\/p>\n

Meek Mill gave the \u201cSuperstar\u201d rapper\u00a0his flowers, calling the Chicago native an \u201cadvanced\u201d artist.<\/p>\n

The Philly rapper took to X on January 30 to show love to Lupe\u2019s 2005 debut album Food & Liquor<\/em>, kicking things off by fanning out over \u201cThe Instrumental.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis song breaks down the phone,\u201d he said of the track, which tackles young people\u2019s addiction to electronic devices. \u201cI used to listen to this and wonder what the box is. The box is my phone for me!\u201d<\/p>\n

Meek Mill also called the\u00a0Kanye West-produced \u201cThe Cool\u201d one of his favorite songs from Lupe Fiasco\u2019s catalog.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
