Yonkers, NY –\u00a0<\/span>DMX\u2018s untimely passing left a gaping hole in the Hip Hop community, but his memory and influence continue to live on three years since his departure.<\/p>\n

Tuesday (April 9) marks the third anniversary of the \u201cParty Up\u201d rapp<\/a>er\u2019s death. The day before, the Ruff Ryders made a pilgrimage to the late MC\u2019s resting place in Yonkers\u2019 Oakland Cemetery to honor his life.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou already know what time it is,\u201d a member of the crew said in a video of the visit while pointing his smartphone camera at all the motorbikes and buggies present at the gravesite. \u201cGot the whole pack out here, ya heard? Rest in peace, DMX.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of those who showed up reflected on the legendary spitter\u2019s unique place in the music industry and how he remained authentic throughout his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s give it to X because he stayed true to himself and he never sold out,\u201d one person said. \u201cHe kept it real till the casket dropped, y\u2019know what I\u2019m saying? You don\u2019t get real cats like that, that represent from the beginning to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, the Ruff Ryders hosted a \u201cRyde Out\u201d event in honor of DMX on the second anniversary of his demise.<\/p>\n

Back in April 2021, the \u201cSlippin’\u201d hitmaker passed away from a cocaine-induced heart attack. He\u00a0was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York after suffering a reported drug overdose, after which he was briefly placed on life support.<\/p>\n

X (real name Earl Simmons) died in hospital seven days later, with the cause of death revealed to be a cocaine-induced heart attack.<\/p>\n

During the rapper\u2019s memorial service at Brooklyn\u2019s Barclays Center later that month, Swizz Beatz said he wished people had shown DMX more support while he was alive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWords can\u2019t describe our loss, but our gain is heavy as well because we got a real serious person upstairs that\u2019s looking down on us, and that\u2019s going to guide us through our journey,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wish all these people showed up for him when he was here. You got thousands of people claiming who they are and tickets and things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThis man needed everybody. He didn\u2019t need everybody when he\u2019s not here, he needed everybody when he was here. We have to learn to celebrate each other while we\u2019re here.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want y\u2019all to show up to my shit when I\u2019m gone, unless you was showing up while I was here.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
