Goyer and his brother and director Christopher Nolan, said on a recent episode on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/sFRXTy_8G7w?si=goaeJMjf4_MCDh4t\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/sFRXTy_8G7w?si=goaeJMjf4_MCDh4t\"><em>Happy Sad Confused <\/em>podcast<\/a> that he was actually pushing for the Riddler to be the primary villain in the third film of the trilogy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cWe had these conversations,\u201d Jonathan said. \u201cBane came out of a conversation with David\u00a0[Goyer] and Chris. I was unsure about that at the story stage, but I [didn\u2019t want it to be] back seat driving. Chris understood that what we had done and what\u00a0Heath\u00a0[Ledger] had done with [Joker] \u2014 you didn\u2019t want to go anywhere near it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    He continued, \u201cI started to play with the idea of the Riddler and what could be done with that character. But it did feel like close enough to the space of what we had done with Heath, and you really needed to [change direction]. There\u2019s another genre shift there. One of the things I was excited about for <em>The Dark Knight Rises <\/em>was that if you do a kind of urban crime genre for [<em>The Dark Knight<\/em>], the third one was a post-apocalyptic film. You sort of go: Batman always saves the day and the city survives. Why can\u2019t we destroy Gotham and see what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens afterwards?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The <em>Fallout<\/em> director wasn\u2019t the only one initially pushing for the Riddler in Nolan\u2019s third <em>Batman<\/em> movie. In September last year, Goyer said an executive from Warner Bros. suggested to him at the premiere of <em>The Dark Knight<\/em>\u00a0that\u00a0Leonardo DiCaprio should play the Riddler in the next film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    However, he told the exec, \u201cThat\u2019s not the way we work,\u201d adding that Christopher is \u201cvery process driven\u201d and was \u201cstaunchly against\u201d building a movie around the villain \u201cbecause he said that\u2019s not a bottom, ground-up way of telling a story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Goyer continued at the time, \u201cLet\u2019s do it in a very naturalistic way, so let\u2019s figure out what kind of story we want to tell and what we thematically want to explore with Bruce, and then let\u2019s figure out a villain that fits that story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>The Dark Knight Rises<\/em> ultimately saw Tom Hardy play Bane, opposite Christian Bale\u2019s Bruce Wayne\/Batman.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
