It would prohibit the government from denying or burdening the right to abortion before fetal viability,\u201d the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sosmt.gov\/wp-admin\/admin-ajax.php?juwpfisadmin=false&amp;action=wpfd&amp;task=file.download&amp;wpfd_category_id=26&amp;wpfd_file_id=63616&amp;token=&amp;preview=1\">ballot language states<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The measure also states that the government would be prohibited \u201cfrom denying or burdening access to an abortion\u201d when the patient\u2019s doctor or treating practitioner \u201cdetermines it is medically indicated to protect the pregnant patient\u2019s life or health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The amended constitution would also say explicitly that the government could not penalize any party involved in someone\u2019s \u201cvoluntary decisions about their pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2024_Election_Coverage\"><\/span>2024 Election Coverage<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">Since the Supreme Court overturned the federal right to an abortion, numerous states have passed near-total bans on abortion access. Fear about further restrictions to reproductive care has led to similar ballot initiatives in states around the country to enshrine abortion rights in state constitutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWith 2024 shaping up to be the biggest year ever for abortion on the ballot, it is critical that Montanans can make their voices heard on this issue,\u201d read a statement from Kelly Hall, executive director of the Fairness Project, which has backed abortion-rights ballot measures in states including Ohio, Michigan and Vermont.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnti-abortion extremists have tried to interfere in Montanans\u2019 personal health care choices again and again.
