Seven years after its announcement, the Yuri!!! on Ice<\/em> anime<\/a> film, Yuri!!! on Ice the movie : Ice Adolescence<\/em>, has been cancelled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The production committee of the MAPP<\/a>A<\/strong>-produced title said in an official statement, \u201cWe deeply apologize for not being to meet the expectations of all those who have been waiting and have continued to support us throughout these years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe production committee and staff have been in constant discussions to create and deliver the movie, but due to various circumstances, we have had to make the difficult decision to stop the production.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cvarious circumstances\u201d are not elaborated on, but the animation producers of the Yuri!!! on Ice\u00a0<\/em>TV series<\/a>, Fuuko Noda<\/strong> and Takahiro Ogawa<\/strong>, have notably been busy with other projects during these seven years. Noda was animation producer on shows like Dorohedoro<\/em>, The Gymnastics Samurai<\/em>, The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace<\/em>, and the 2023 film Maboroshi<\/em>. Meanwhile, the titles Ogawa was involved with include Kakegurui<\/em>\u2018s second season, Listeners<\/em>, Zombie Land Saga<\/em>, Dance, Dance, Danseur<\/em>, Kakegurui Twin<\/em>, Campfire\u00a0Cooking\u00a0in<\/em>\u00a0Another World\u00a0with My Absurd\u00a0Skill<\/em>, and Winter 2024\u2019s Bucchigiri?!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The announcement of a Yuri on Ice!!!<\/em> movie was made in April 2017. A delay was announced in 2019, and an update in 2020 stated that production was still ongoing.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Yuri on Ice!!!\u00a0<\/em>series premiered in October 2016 and ran for one cour. It was directed and series composed by Sayo Yamamoto<\/strong>, the director of Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine<\/i>, with Tadashi Hiramatsu<\/strong> (Jujutsu Kaisen<\/em>, His and Her Circumstances<\/em>) as character designer. The staff also included manga artist Mitsuro Kubo<\/strong> as draft writer and original character designer and Jun Shishido<\/strong> (Attack on Titan Final Season<\/em>) as chief episode director. Yamamoto, Hiramatsu, and Kubo were credited for the movie as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
