Beyonc\u00e9\u2018s impact on country music has been named as the subject of an upcoming documentary called Call Me Country<\/em>, which is currently in the filming stages.<\/p>\n

The Tennessean<\/a><\/em> is reporting that CNN FlashDocs is behind the production, which will be made available later this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyonce\u0301\u2019s highly anticipated album Cowboy Carter<\/em>, released March 29, arrived during a revolution within country music as the latest arena of the culture wars in America,\u201d read a statement from Warner Brothers Discovery, the parent company of the network, in a press release.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome in the industry are welcoming more diverse artists, while others stick to a much narrower view of a genre that predominately centers around straight, white men.\u201d<\/p>\n

John and T.J. Osborne of Brothers Osborne, Rissi Palmer, Aaron Vance, and Denitia will all be interviewed for the documentary.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Beyonc\u00e9 made headlines when Azaelia Banks \u2014 a long-time critic of the singer \u2014 dragged British pop star Lily Allen for filth for what she called \u201crandom racism\u201d against the ex-Destiny\u2019s Child leader.<\/p>\n

Taking to her Instagram Stories on April 6, Banks reposted a story that featured Allen criticizing Cowboy Carter<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 something Banks, herself, has done \u2014 telling her to \u201csit this one out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShall we discuss that phone call to me \u2013 a few years ago \u2013 obviously off your face \u2013 crying and sobbing asking me to forgive you for randomly being racist?\u201d she began, referring to the feud that the pair had eleven years ago that concluded with Banks telling Allen that her then-husband, Sam Cooper, \u201clooks like a thumb,\u201d per\u00a0The Guardian<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cAnd I quote, well, I just figured since I\u2019m a white girl and you\u2019re just some Black girl that I could shit on you\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Banks then proceeded to give what she called a blow-by-blow descript<\/a>ion of what the conversation between the two entailed.<\/p>\n

Ironically, Azealia Banks herself has frequently criticized Beyonc\u00e9, claiming that the ex-Destiny\u2019s Child\u00a0singer is\u00a0engaging in \u201cwhite woman cosplay.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a scathing attack posted on her Instagram Story on March 19, the controversial rapper started out by comparing the \u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em\u201d singer to a number of recognizable names in pop culture.<\/p>\n

\u201cSis, I live for Whiteyonce Donatella Bianca Bardot DOWN, but I\u2019m kind of ashamed at how [you] switch from Baobab trees and Black Parade to this literal pick me stuff,\u201d she began.<\/p>\n

Azealia then implied that Bey went above and beyond for the Dixie Chicks because they were white women, but that the same courtesy would never be extended to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike u do lame stuff like bring out some blacklisted white women (Dixie Chicks) at the Country Music Awards. and they would never, ever do the same for you. Ur always sharing ur platform with white women, who are so jealous of you but have such a long history of sabotaging other black careers,\u201d she wrote. \u201cYou\u2019re reinforcing the false rhetoric that country music is a post-civil war art form.\u201d<\/p>\n

After questioning why Beyonc\u00e9 would attempt\u00a0to break into an art form that didn\u2019t make her feel welcomed, Azealia Banks roasted \u201c16 Carriages,\u201d claiming that it \u201cdidn\u2019t make any sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHad you made a great country song \u2026 going number one should be the headline without the weird race part,\u201d she concluded. \u201cBut like Kelsea Ballerini and Carrie Underwood have better songs than whatever nauseating little Bey on the prairie stuff is going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
