\n The city of Cleveland is offering a reward of up to $35,000 as investigators scramble to solve the murder of a veteran detective, who was gunned down while working undercover last week.<\/p>\n

The reward is for information leading to the \u201cidentity and prosecution\u201d of anyone involved in Detective James Skernivitz\u2019s killing Thursday night, Mayor Frank Jackson and other officials announced Sunday.<\/p>\n

The 25-year veteran was shot and killed around 10 p.m. while sitting in an unmarked police car with an informant, Scott Dingess, 50, who also died. Skernivitz was investigating drug dealing in the area at the time.<\/p>\n

Three people \u2014 two juveniles and an adult \u2014 were arrested but none have been charged.<\/p>\n

Police said Friday the motive was not known.<\/p>\n

Skernivitz, 53, was working as part of a federal law enforcement effort initiated by President Trump to crack down on violent crime when he died. He was assigned to the Cleveland Division of Police\u2019s gang impact unit.<\/p>\n

The FBI is bankrolling $25,000 of the reward, while Crimestoppers of Cuyahoga County is footing the rest.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
