2Pac was many things over his short lifetime, including a catalyst for change in the Black community \u2013 so says anti-violence activist Erica Ford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The veteran reformer worked with \u2018Pac before his passing to create the \u201cT.H.U.G. Life\u201d rules to reduce violence and promote community respect. In a new round-table conversation with AllHipHop<\/a><\/em>last week, the community leader spoke passionately about her time with the late legend and his stepfather Mutulu Shakur, and how important their work was.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking with his entire family was like something \u2026 it\u2019s life-changing in a sense that you could look at him on a movie screen and you see him in person, and it\u2019s the same person,\u201d she noted. \u201cHe [was] a true representation of his true representation. When he showed up for anybody, he showed up his best and he showed up real.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cHe\u2019s got a mind that is beyond the world. They [The Black Panther Party] educated him and trained him in a manner that you know would bring some fundamental change for black youth in America.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue<\/em>, Naughty By Nature MC Treach pinpointed the moment that 2Pac stopped making positive music, noting that the change occurred because was \u201cfed up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalling the treatment his friend\u00a0received while filming the movie Above the Rim<\/em>, he said: \u201cThe majority of the people out there was loving \u2018Pac but you got your taunters and your haters and your trolls. A lot of the ones that were taunting him were females \u2019cause it was a sexual assault case.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he was like, \u2018Man, I would never think my own people would come for me when I rep the thugs, I speak for the women. I always had their back. Man, I\u2019m never doing no fucking \u2026\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old said the experience made the Death Row Records legend distance himself from uplifting and social<\/a>ly conscious songs like \u201cKeep Ya Head Up\u201d and \u201cBrenda\u2019s Got a Baby.\u201d Instead, he shifted his focus to a \u201cthug\u201d persona with records such as \u201cCalifornia Love\u201d and his infamous Notorious B.I.G diss \u201cHit \u2018Em Up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was the new \u2018Pac,\u201d he added. \u201cMuthafuckas had got him fed the fuck up.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
