Damn, only took a few decades and losing out on his dream job\u2026<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-66276813db1cb-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On Sunday, the <em>Central Intelligence<\/em> star sat down for a <em>60 Minutes<\/em> interview with <strong>Anderson Cooper<\/strong>. He got candid about a lot of things but most importantly opened up about the moment it finally clicked for him that homophobia isn\u2019t cool\u2026 Yeah, it sounds wrong even having to say that, but hey, at least he\u2019s growing. He told the journalist:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe understanding came from the best light bulb ever. <strong>Wanda Sykes<\/strong> said, \u2018There\u2019s people that are being hurt today because of comments like the ones that you made then, and there\u2019s people that will think it\u2019s okay to make those comments today based off of what you did then.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Seems simple enough. Like he really should have realized that, but OK!<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-66276813db1d0-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Related: Did YOU Notice That\u00a0<em>Blue\u00a0<\/em>Introduced The Show\u2019s First Gay Couple?!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And we\u2019re sure it resonated even more hearing it from a fellow successful Black co<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>n\u2026 Who also h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens to be a gay woman! He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt was presented to me in a way where I couldn\u2019t ignore that. You can read all about that HERE.<\/p>\n<p>In a stand-up comedy clip which was featured in the <em>60 Minutes<\/em> interview, Kevin also talked about wanting to \u201cprevent\u201d his son from becoming gay:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not homophobic. I have nothing against gay people. Be happy. Do what you want to do. But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-66276813db1da-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ultimately his refusal to really apologize cost him the hosting gig, something he said at the time he\u2019d always dreamed of doing. It hurt him a lot, we could tell. But not enough for him to change his tune at that time, or at least not to anyone\u2019s satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>Will everyone accept this new explanation of his enlightenment? Or will this also be seen as nothing but calculation on his part? After all, he has a new movie coming out soon, the interview is with a gay man, the more cynical folks among us miiiiiight squint a bit at this description of epiphany.
