She was 85.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Adams died Thursday in Los Angeles, Matt Kane, director of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> and talent for <em>The Young and the Restless<\/em>, announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    When she was just starting out, Adams <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared in 1958 alongside Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne on Broadway in <em>The Visit<\/em> and portrayed June, the high school best friend of Natalie Wood\u2018s Deanie, in Elia Kazan\u2019s <em>Splendor in the Grass<\/em> (1961).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Her first prominent role on a daytime drama came on CBS\u2019 <em>The Secret Storm<\/em>, where she played bad girl Belle Clemens from 1968 until the show\u2019s 1974 demise. \u201cI was the bitch of daytime,\u201d she <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ocnjdaily.com\/marla-adams-ocean-citys-homegrown-star\/\">said<\/a> in a 2016 interview. \u201cI played a good bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Adams joined <em>Y&amp;R<\/em> in 1983 but left when her three-year contract was up. She returned to Genoa City for brief stints in 1991, 1996 and 2008 before being asked by head writer-producer Sally Sussman to go it again in 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cI remember when [Sussman told her], \u2018I\u2019m going to bring you back on <em>The Young and the Restless<\/em>, but you\u2019ve got Alzheimer\u2019s,\u2019 and I said, \u2018What!? You\u2019re bringing me back so you can kill me off?&#8217;\u201d she <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/michaelfairmantv.com\/marla-adams-talks-her-final-scenes-as-dina-mergeron-the-alzheimers-storyline-and-her-touching-farewell\/2020\/10\/16\/\">recalled<\/a> in 2020. \u201cAnd she said, \u2018Oh no, it\u2019ll be about a year.\u2019 That dissolved into four years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Viewers watched the Abbott matriarch slowly and heartbreakingly unravel before dying in an episode in October 2020. In her final moments, she addressed her kids, Traci (Beth Maitland), Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson), before being welcomed into heaven by her first husband, John Abbott (Jerry Douglas).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Eight months later, Adams received <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=295987558983998\">the lone Daytime Emmy<\/a> of her long career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cFrom all the characters I\u2019ve played, from <em>The Secret Storm<\/em> to Broadway, this has been the most astonishing, amazing part I\u2019ve had the privilege to play,\u201d she <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oAp8G3_MWdw\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Marla Adams was born on Aug. 28, 1938, in Ocean City, New Jersey. No, that\u2019s not her. It couldn\u2019t be!
