Kadokawa has announced the release of a new <\/span>High School DxD <\/span><\/i>light novel spinoff series<\/a> titled <\/span>Junior High School DxD<\/span><\/i> on May 17, 2024. The first volume of the spinoff will be titled \u201cThe Transfer Student is a Samurai Girl\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The spinoff was first announced at the <\/span>Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai Online 2023 livestream event<\/span><\/a> in October 2023, with more details about the series revealed on the anime<\/a>\u2019s official Twitter<\/a>. It\u2019s not currently clear if the spinoff will be a one-volume novel or a full series.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ichiei Ishibumi<\/b> is credited with the original work and overall supervision for <\/span>Junior High School DxD<\/span><\/i>. <\/span>Rippu Shinonome<\/b> is writing the spinoff\u2019s story, with <\/span>Miyama-Zero<\/b> providing illustrations for the series. The latter also posted an illustration of the main heroine on their Twitter account.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Junior High School DxD <\/span><\/i>is set after volume 10 of the original light novel series and the <\/span>High School DxD Hero<\/span><\/i> TV\u2019s anime timeline. Rias Gremory and several other characters from the main series are expected to make app<\/a>earances in the spinoff.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The main story is centered on a descendant of Miyamoto Musashi, whose life takes a drastic turn when she comes into possession of a magical sword. The sword\u2019s unique ability allows the user to absorb power by piercing an enemy\u2019s chest, and channeling it to enhance its wielder\u2019s breast size. Despite this circumstance, the girl just wants to make new friends and live a colorful teenage life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ishibumi and Miyama-Zero published the <\/span>High School DxD<\/span><\/i> light novels from September 20, 2008 to March 20, 2018 for a total of 25 volumes. A light novel sequel series called <\/span>Shin High School DxD <\/span><\/i>was published on July 20, 2018, with four volumes released as of February 20, 2020. The sequel series has since been on hiatus due to Ishibumi\u2019s failing health.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The series also includes four short story collections, spinoff novels, manga series, and video game<\/a>s. It has inspired four TV anime seasons in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2018, with <\/span>TNK<\/b> producing the first three seasons and <\/span>Passione<\/b> producing the fourth season.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
