For eight years, no one thought that would ever h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en, but it did. <\/p>\n<p>Why? <\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1038259\/SEL_Post-text --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1693000027709-0\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"post-break\"><\/div>\n<p>Simply put, Yahoo had the best user experience on the web for 10 years, but Google provided a better one.<\/p>\n<p>Now, think about this. Let\u2019s say you have all kinds of questions about the world:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do I need to wear a jacket out today? <\/li>\n<li>What\u2019s the best sushi restaurant near here? <\/li>\n<li>Give me a hint to today\u2019s Wordle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And what if you had a butler who was brilliant at every subject in the world and could give you the best answer to any question you had, not just an accurate answer but helpful, friendly and thoughtful?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIt\u2019s a little chilly out, so wear a light jacket in the morning. You can probably take it off around noon.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSushi Kingdom is a 15-minute drive from here, but they have the most amazing fatty tuna shipped in from Japan.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThink of a five-letter word that means \u2018tired\u2019.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oh, and your butler refuses to take any money from you. It mainly wants to compete with your dog to be your best friend without all the licking.<\/p>\n<p>If you had someone at your beck and call every minute of every day, would you ever go to a Google Search box again?<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-true-zero-click-is-coming\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"True_%E2%80%98zero_click_is_coming\"><\/span>True \u2018zero click\u2019 is coming<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Five years ago, Rand Fishkin was one of the first to sound the alarm on the rise of \u201czero-click searches,\u201d when Google introduced featured snippets and universal search results.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, we all decried it as a land grab from Google. It had the effect of \u201ctrapping\u201d users on Google\u2019s sites so they would click more paid ads and visit more Google properties.<\/p>\n<p>However, in fairness to Google, they really were looking to improve the user experience. They knew that the vast majority of people who search for something don\u2019t want to wade through listing after listing. They just want an answer.<\/p>\n<p>Every SEO professional knows this, too. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/backlinko.com\/google-ctr-stats\">Nearly 70%<\/a> of searchers don\u2019t even click past the first three results.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the search landscape of the future, yes, people will still use the Google interface we know today for things like research and exploration. But expect the 70% of searchers who don\u2019t click past the first three Google results to flock to AI for answers.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-is-seo-dead\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_SEO_dead\"><\/span>Is SEO dead?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Those of us who\u2019ve been in SEO for a while have lost count by now of how often the mainstream <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> has declared that \u201cSEO is dead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My response to this has always been: as long as there are humans in the world and those humans are searching for something, SEO will never be dead. <\/p>\n<p>Sure, the definition of what a \u201csearch engine\u201d is will change over time. At one point, it was called \u201cthe Dewey Decimal System.\u201d Then it was \u201cArchie,\u201d \u201cYahoo\u201d then \u201cGoogle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What will it be called next? \u201cChatGPT?\u201d \u201cGemini?\u201d \u201cGrok?\u201d Or something else entirely?<\/p>\n<p>Or will multiple large language models (LLMs) arise, each trained in different areas of expertise? <\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell what the exact landscape will look like, but one thing is for sure: the world will need a lot more \u201cSEO.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-does-seo-look-like-in-an-ai-driven-world\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_does_SEO_look_like_in_an_AI-driven_world\"><\/span>What does SEO look like in an AI-driven world?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To answer the question of what SEO will look like in the future, we need to think about what search itself will look like.<\/p>\n<p>As every SEO knows, today most people search for head terms. A recent <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.semrush.com\/blog\/zero-clicks-study\/\">Semrush study<\/a> said that 69.8% of searches use 1-4 keywords in the Google Search bar such as \u201cweather tomorrow,\u201d \u201crestaurants near me,\u201d \u201cnfl scores.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a terribly awkward way to communicate, but it\u2019s what we\u2019ve all been conditioned to do since the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s about to change.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s think back to our aforementioned butler. Why would you say \u201crestaurants near me\u201d when you can have a conversation:<\/p>\n<p><strong>You<\/strong>: \u201cWhere should I eat tonight?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Butler<\/strong>: \u201cWhat are you in the mood for?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>You<\/strong>: \u201cI don\u2019t know. Maybe some Italian. Do you know a good place to get pasta around here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Butler<\/strong>: \u201cYes, Luigi\u2019s Pizzeria is about a half mile away and has pretty good reviews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>You<\/strong>: \u201cWhat do the reviewers recommend?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Butler<\/strong>: \u201cA lot of them recommend the rigatoni with bolognese sauce or the grandma slice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>You<\/strong>: \u201cI never heard of this place. Have they been around very long?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Butler<\/strong>: \u201cYes, they\u2019ve been in business for 15 years, although they recently moved to this location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Search is going to the extremely long tail.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the search demand curve we all know and love will be changing. The fat head won\u2019t be going away, but the curve will flatten as people get used to asking more specific questions to AI and getting more specific answers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- START INLINE FORM --><\/p>\n<p><!-- END INLINE FORM --><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-css-opacity has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-is-ai-ready\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_AI_ready\"><\/span>Is AI ready?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Not quite. <\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve tried a generative AI, you\u2019ll probably have observed something for now. It\u2019s great at solving math problems and translating. It can win any bar bet at trivia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But go just a little deeper and you\u2019ll see how far from \u201cintelligent\u201d AI really is.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My sister is one of the top veterinary pathologists in her field. I recently introduced her to one of the popular AI chatbots. She typed in three advanced questions and found that not only were the answers incorrect, but in some cases, they were dangerously wrong.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> behind AI is revolutionary, but AI doesn\u2019t magically have knowledge from the get-go. Someone needs to teach it. <\/p>\n<p>Right now, most LLMs are being trained on whatever data they can find on the public Internet, which, let\u2019s face it, has largely been shaped by a quarter century of Google and SEO to focus on superficial content and head terms.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-can-brands-do-to-prepare\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_can_brands_do_to_prepare\"><\/span>What can brands do to prepare?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In Aesop\u2019s Fable \u201cThe Grasshopper and the Ants,\u201d the grasshopper enjoys the warmth and food of summer while the ants work hard to prepare for winter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few years, there have been some companies whose first move when the economy turns sour is to lay off or offshore their employees in \u201ccost centers\u201d like customer service and content teams. <\/p>\n<p>These companies are looking at the coming AI revolution and likely asking themselves, \u201chow do I best exploit AI so I can save even more costs and further boost my short-term profits?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those are the grasshoppers. They\u2019re in for a rough winter.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the wise companies of the world are the ones that never stop putting their customers\u2019 needs above everything else. These are the companies that look at the coming AI revolution and ask, \u201cHow do I become the place where AI (and, more importantly, my customers) come to learn?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These are the ants, and they\u2019re the ones who will thrive in an AI world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to be prepared, here are some basic things you should do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-take-online-customer-service-seriously\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Take_online_customer_service_seriously\"><\/span>Take online customer service seriously<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Hire and retain the best customer service agents with empathy, expertise and experience. <\/p>\n<p>Build a knowledge base of every question your customers ask and write in-depth answers that mirror what your best customer service agents would give, both in terms of knowledge and delivery.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-create-deep-content-that-shows-true-thought-leadership\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Create_deep_content_that_shows_true_thought_leadership\"><\/span>Create deep content that shows true thought leadership<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Stop chasing head terms. Go deep. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What do you as a brand have to bring to the world that no one else can? <\/li>\n<li>What are nuanced questions about your industry that you\u2019re uniquely able to answer, whether it\u2019s about a highly specialized topic, a unique geography, or anything else unique that you bring to the table? <\/li>\n<li>What are underserved niches in your industry?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tap experts in your company and your industry to write true thought leadership, whether it\u2019s brand new knowledge or old knowledge presented in a fresh, accessible way. <\/p>\n<p>Embrace every form of media your customers use, whether it be social posts, podcasts, videos, TV or radio broadcasts \u2013 AI will be able to access them all in its thirst to learn.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-invite-expert-user-generated-content\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Invite_expert_user-generated_content\"><\/span>Invite expert user-generated content<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Find ways to get experts from among your customers and internal staff to share expert user-generated content (UGC), whether through discussion forums, comments sections, reviews and so on. <\/p>\n<p>UGC has long been the \u201csecret weapon\u201d of companies who wish to rank for long-tail searches. Now that all searches will be going long-tail, it\u2019ll be more important than ever, especially since AI will be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-embrace-openness-and-transparency\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Embrace_openness_and_transparency\"><\/span>Embrace openness and transparency<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Long-time SEOs probably remember a time when\u00a0 search queries were often followed by the word \u201cwiki.\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/trends.google.com\/trends\/explore?date=all&amp;geo=US&amp;q=reddit,wiki&amp;hl=en\">These days<\/a>, queries are more often followed by the word \u201creddit.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Why? <\/p>\n<p>Put simply, while both Wikipedia and Reddit were built on UGC, one is developing a reputation for encouraging open, honest and detailed conversations while the other is not.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s review section is another example of the power of transparency: ask anyone you know who buys on Amazon what part of the product page they read first and invariably many will tell you the review section.
