Allegations come down to these three main points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Google used lucrative deals with partners like <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le to cement itself as the default search engine across devices and platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Google paid billions annually to secure those default positions \u2013 $26 billion in 2021 alone. (This includes $20 billion alone to be the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-05-01\/google-s-payments-to-apple-reached-20-billion-in-2022-cue-says?embedded-checkout=true\">default on Apple\u2019s Safari browser<\/a>, according to newly unsealed court records.)<\/li>\n<li>Google failing to justify why it pays so much beyond stifling competition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The other side<\/strong>: Google rejected accusations of anticompetitive conduct, asserting that users prefer its best-in-class search engine and that its dominance is not due to any alleged monopolistic tactics.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cWe are working very, very hard; for any given query we provide the best experience,\u201d CEO Sundar Pichai testified. \u201cThat\u2019s always been our true north.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Bottom line:<\/strong> This landmark case carries existential implications for Google\u2019s core search business if the DOJ prevails.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next: <\/strong>After closing arguments, Judge Amit Mehta will weigh the liability case before him.
