\n An assistant district attorney in the Kings County prosecutor\u2019s office was hit and killed by a bus while riding her bike in Brooklyn early Monday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Sarah Pitts, 35, was hit by the charter bus in the intersection of Williamsburg Street and Wythe Avenue at about 12:35 a.m. in Williamsburg, police said.<\/p>\n

She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with severe head trauma and declared dead, authorities said.<\/p>\n

In a statement Monday evening, the district attorney\u2019s office remembered Pitts as an avid cyclist and talented lawyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a brilliant and compassionate lawyer dedicated to seeking justice. We are overwhelmed by this sudden loss,\u201d District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement.<\/p>\n

He added that Pitts worked tirelessly to make the criminal justice system in Kings County \u201cfairer and safer for everyone,\u201d serving on App<\/a>eals Bureau and working with the post-conviction team to decide which cases should be accepted.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a kind and generous co-worker who will be greatly missed. Our sincere condolences go out to her family and friends,\u201d Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n

An NYPD spokesperson did not immedia<\/a>tely know who the driver worked for or who the bus belonged to. No arrests had been made by Monday afternoon.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
