When? That remains the big question. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Rumor has it. <\/strong>OpenAI is developing a ChatGPT feature that searches the web and cites sources in its results, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-05-07\/openai-is-readying-an-ai-search-product-to-rival-google-perplexity\">Bloomberg<\/a> reported (sub<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion required):<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThe feature would allow users to ask ChatGPT a question and receive answers that use details from the web with citations to sources such as Wikipedia entries and blog posts \u2026 One version of the product also uses images alongside<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>written responses to questions, when they\u2019re relevant. If a user asked ChatGPT how to change a doorknob, for instance, the results might include a diagram to illustrate the task\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>And.<\/strong> \u201cOpenAI has been aggressively trying to poach Google employees for a team that is working hard to ship the product soon,\u201d according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/5\/7\/24151616\/openai-is-entering-the-search-game\">the Verge<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1038259\/SEL_Post-text --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1693000027709-0\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"post-break\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Why we care.<\/strong> Search has quickly evolving in a new direction since the emergence of generative AI \u2013 with OpenAI seemingly perceived to be ahead of Google in many ways (not yet including Search), even though ChatGPT\u2019s user base is still much smaller than Google. However, there is clearly growing frustration with all aspects of Google \u2013 from the quality of Search results to its abundance of advertising. Not to mention Google\u2019s alleged monopolistic practices that have hurt advertisers, users and competitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>X things we know about ChatGPT search.<\/strong> ChatGPT doesn\u2019t want to copy Google\u2019s model or layout (he hates ads). OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said as much earlier this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cI don\u2019t think the world needs another copy of Google,\u201d Altman said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ChatGPT\u2019s version of Search wouldn\u2019t be traditional, or classic, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> web search. Altman\u2019s vision is integrating ChatGPT with Search:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201c\u2026We are interested in how to do that well. That would be an example of a cool thing. I don\u2019t think anyone has cracked the code on yet. I would love to go do that. I think that would be cool,\u201d Altman said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Dig deeper. Is ChatGPT the Google Search killer we\u2019ve been expecting?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other ChatGPT search developments.<\/strong> We first heard rumors about OpenAI\u2019s search product in February. Other stories Search Engine Land has covered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ChatGPT recently made links more prominent for ChatGPT Plus subscribers.<\/li>\n<li>OpenAI launched its web crawler, GPTBot, in August. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>More evidence.<\/strong> search.chatgpt.com appeared in the log files for some servers, as reported In <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seroundtable.com\/openai-to-launch-search-engine-37319.html\">Report: OpenAI To Launch Search Engine<\/a> on Search Engine Roundtable by Barry Schwartz.
