I disagree \u2014 I\u2019m old enough to remember <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/spaceghostarchive\/denzel-curry-got-molested\">a few SpaceGhostPurpp disses<\/a>, or Remy Ma taking Nicki Minaj to task for <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=61TJVzkdKNA\">supporting her brother<\/a>, a convicted child rapist \u2014 but they\u2019re certainly the two biggest r<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ers I\u2019ve seen take things this far into the mud.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            After the release of \u201cPush Ups\u201d three weeks ago, I said this beef had \u201cdramatically escalated\u201d even knowing things had only just started; still, I never expected anything close to the havoc unleashed since. Both rappers have released several songs since then, and the unsubstantiated allegations contained within them \u2014 of domestic violence within the Lamar household and pedophilia in the OVO camp \u2014 are genuinely shocking. Perhaps if things had ended on Friday night with \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZkXG3ZrXlbc\">Family Matters<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2QiFl9Dc7D0\">Meet The Grahams<\/a>,\u201d <i>maybe<\/i> hip-hop fans would be having a serious discussion of these claims.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-261513\" class=\"content_block breaker triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left video\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top: 56.25%;\">\n<p>    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Not Like Us\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T6eK-2OQtew?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\n \/\/trackYouTubeVideo('261513');\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-261514\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            The release of \u201cNot Like Us\u201d on Saturday has prevented any of that from happening, at least for now. Ignore for a moment the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ArtOfDialogue_\/status\/1787607074353885527\">Angelenos<\/a> two-stepping to this song in the club, and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sportingnews\/status\/1787686410524471311\">Gavin Lux walking out to the song at Dodger Stadium<\/a> \u2014 hometown bias, right? \u201cNot Like Us\u201d has streaming <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Kaimafiaupdates\/status\/1787643786308288927\">wunderkind Kai Cenat<\/a> twisting his fingers (badly), and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cjzero\/status\/1787693111692664892\">TNT played a snippet<\/a> during its broadcast of the Timberwolves-Nuggets playoff <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> Monday night too. It\u2019s even in the Yankees\u2019 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mkrwrt\/status\/1787956041076142214?s=46&amp;t=KhK5H-GityiTyhAsiyqVuA\">pregame mix<\/a>, along with \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/chriskirschner\/status\/1787942954612502747?s=46&amp;t=KhK5H-GityiTyhAsiyqVuA\">Meet the Grahams<\/a>.\u201d This beef was already going supernova (I saw an older Caucasian gentleman tweeting about Drake \u201cstealing\u201d \u201cHotline Bling\u201d from DRAM on Monday morning) but following the 2015 example of \u201cBack to Back,\u201d Kendrick is aiming for inescapability.<\/p>\n<p>            It should go without saying that using allegations of sexual violence as a \u201cgotcha\u201d to score points in a rap beef is deeply misogynist, objectifying survivors and commodifying their trauma. Kendrick tapped Kodak Black on <i>Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers<\/i> pretty much exclusively to try and make some weird point about cancel culture; Drake started posting \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/drake-controversial-support-tory-lanez-megan-thee-stallion-shooting-appeal-1234975634\/\">free Tory Lanez<\/a>\u201d as part of some fucked up vendetta against Megan Thee Stallion. These are not two men who care about women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-261515\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            It should be underscored that neither rapper is producing any receipts. This doesn\u2019t even reach the level of \u201cbelieve survivors;\u201d we are talking about two grown men in their late 30s trying to win a popularity contest on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> by saying <i>actually the other guy hurts women and children more<\/i>. That said, Drake is definitely on the back foot thanks to the resurfacing of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Fp5b9dW1nrA\">a clip of the Canadian rapper kissing a 17-year-old on stage in 2010<\/a>, not to mention his longtime friendship with Baka Not Nice, his bodyguard who <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/torontosun.com\/2015\/05\/12\/drake-entourage-member-guilty-of-assaulting-woman\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to assaulting a woman in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>            Nevertheless, the pair are acutely aware of the career-ending possibilities these rumors portend. \u201cFabricatin\u2019 stories on the family front, cuz you heard <i>Mr. Morale<\/i>,\u201d Kendrick rapped wearily on last week\u2019s \u201ceuphoria\u201d (was it really just last week?); Drake previously addressed \u201cweirdos in my comments talking \u2019bout some Millie Bobby [Brown]\u201d on \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DGVjmJpCRUg\">Another Late Night<\/a>\u201d off October\u2019s <i>For All The Dogs<\/i>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-261516\" class=\"content_block breaker triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left video\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top: 56.25%;\">\n<p>    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE HEART PART 6 - DRAKE\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HJeY-FXidDQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\n \/\/trackYouTubeVideo('261516');\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-261517\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            Drake readdressed this controversy on Sunday\u2019s \u201cThe Heart Part 6,\u201d although his response was less than convincing. \u201cIf I was fucking young girls, I promise I&#8217;d have been arrested \/ I&#8217;m way too famous for the shit you just suggested,\u201d doesn\u2019t exactly ring true in a post-Diddy society (or at any point in human history, really). Still, I\u2019m willing to entertain the notion that Drake is simply so insulated from the real world he believes the criminal justice system actually works like <i>Law &amp; Order SVU<\/i>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            It\u2019s possible that with their money, influence, and access, Kendrick and Drake have unearthed dirty laundry the other has strived to keep private. And they could also be lying their asses off trying to ensure their opponent is dead before anybody has time to ask too many questions. We may find out soon, or never.<\/p>\n<p>            What\u2019s more troubling is our reaction. The collective glee in Drake\u2019s demise doesn\u2019t reflect any sort of justice or comeuppance. I say this because I keep seeing Lil B fans approvingly repost <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kendricklamar\/status\/612373053352218624\">a 2015 tweet<\/a> of Kendrick thanking Lil B, ignoring how the beloved underground rapper is<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/rapper-lil-bs-creepy-fetish-for-branded-underage-girls-we-would-feel-special\"> alleged to have solicited inappropriate photos from underage female supporters<\/a>. I say this because I\u2019ve seen multiple Instagram clips of Michael Jackson dancing soundtracked by \u201cNot Like Us.\u201d Child sex abuse is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/181266\/horrifying-probe-new-orleans-catholic-churchs-child-sex-trafficking\">horrific<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rainn.org\/statistics\/children-and-teens\">more widespread<\/a> than most would like to believe, but the current state of this rap beef feels like a 24 hour marathon of <i>To Catch A Predator<\/i>, a nominally altruistic show that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/id\/wbna19486893\">frequently harmed<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2027147\/Joseph-Roisman-acquitted-paedophile-To-Catch-A-Predator-entrapment.html\">criminal prosecution<\/a> of sex offenders due to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/does-dateline-go-too-far-to-catch-a-predator\/\">tainted evidence<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/transcripts\/6870926\">poor journalistic ethic<\/a>s. You can see strains of that show\u2019s vigilante ethos in the enduring popularity of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ethics.org.au\/where-are-the-victims-the-ethics-of-true-crime\/\">true crime<\/a>: I just watched Ty Dolla $ign and some YouTuber <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hot97.com\/news\/ty-dolla-ign-teams-up-with-youtuber-to-catch-child-predators\/\">go after alleged child predators on stream yesterday<\/a>. Is shaving a guy\u2019s head after screaming at him really keeping the community safe, or just farming clicks?
