Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lithium-ion batteries have transformed e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">verything from consumer electronics to EVs and energy storage. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But to power the next wave of tech \u2014 from planes to smartphones \u2014 they need to get denser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeydenJar has found a way to replace the graphite anodes found in most lithium-ion cells with silicon ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Silicon anodes can store 10 times more lithium ions. That means denser batteries that last longer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company has raised a healthy <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac100mn in funding to date. Today\u2019s pick comes from our editor <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Linnea Ahlgren<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the speakers I am really looking forward to hearing from this year is Artificial <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Intelligence (AGI) researcher Aliya Grig.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her research integrates principles from consciousness studies, neuro<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>, and cognitive science to create more advanced and adaptable AI systems. Grig is also the founder of Evolwe AI, a startup that claims to be building artificial intelligence \u201cclosest to humans in terms of providing empathy, reasoning, and cognitive skills.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As anyone who has listened to the <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TNW podcast<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on occasion will know, I am incredibly fascinated by the philosophy of consciousness and the mind \u2014 in fact, this is partly what awakened my interest in AI.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And as productive and efficiency-enhancing as large language models might be, I do not believe that they will lead us to AGI. Human intelligence and cognition arise from interactions and processes that are far more complex than such systems.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As such, I am eager to hear Grig\u2019s perspective on what features she believes AI systems need to advance toward AGI. Additionally, as the session title suggests, what kinds of ethical frameworks and safeguards need to be implemented before we achieve AGI, who should decide what these should be, and who should be responsible for unethical behaviour or features in AI systems?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aliya Grig has also established The Cosmos City, an innovative hub for space tech startups located in Los Angeles, and has over 15 years of experience in launching and successfully exiting startups in the fields of renewable energy and space tech<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During a panel at TNW Conference next month, Grig will discuss \u201cHumanism: The Philosophical Debate for AI Ethics.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s all for this week\u2019s round-up.
