The Commission determined that the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> platform meets the DMA thresholds and constitutes an \u201cimportant gateway between businesses and consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Six_months_to_comply\"><\/span>Six months to comply<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Much like the other gatekeepers, Booking.com now has six months to comply with the DMA\u2019s list of don\u2019ts.<\/p>\n<p>The obligations include the ban of targeted advertising outside of the gatekeeper\u2019s core platform. They also call for for non-discrimination practices against business users who wish to offer their services elsewhere at different conditions or prices.<\/p>\n<p>A number of obligations <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ly effective im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely, such as the rule to inform the Commission of \u201cany intended concentration\u201d in the digital sector.<\/p>\n<p>If Booking fails to comply, it risks facing fines of up to 10% of its total worldwide turnover. In case of repeated breaches, fines can go up to 20%, while the EU has the power to force the platform to sell parts of its business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been working with the European Commission for some time as we anticipated today\u2019s decision,\u201d a Booking.com spokesperson said via email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are reviewing their designation decision now and will continue to work constructively with them as we develop solutions to comply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1996 in Amsterdam, Booking.com transformed the travel accommodation industry.<\/p>\n<p>The company says that it offers 28 million accommodation listings across the globe and estimates that its active end users in the EU have exceeded 45 million during the period between August 2023 and January 2024.
