\n The 2024 Tribeca Festival has added even more films, including eight world premieres, to its lineup.<\/p>\n

\n The annual New York event will now include the world premieres of two sports documentaries: Roger Federer\u2018s Twelve Final Days<\/em>, directed by Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, about the 20-time Grand Slam tennis champion\u2019s decision to retire from the sport, and Dawn Porter\u2019s Power of the Dream<\/em>, about the WNBA\u2018s fights for fair pay, better airtime and social<\/a> justice. Both docs are set to stream on Amazon\u2019s Prime Video.<\/p>\n

\n And it\u2019s adding the North American premiere of Nanette Burstein\u2019s Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes<\/em> as well as the world premiere of Sabrina Van Tassel\u2019s Missing From<\/em> Fire Trail Road<\/em>, about the efforts to find out what happ<\/a>ened to missing Native American woman Mary Ellen Johnson-Davis, who disappeared more than two years ago from the Tulalip Indian reservation near Seattle.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cAt our core, we are an activist festival, united by the belief that art can inspire change,\u201d Tribeca co-founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to add 11 new films to our Festival lineup, including Missing From Fire Trail Road <\/em>about the injustices of unsolved crimes against Indigenous women and Power of the Dream<\/em>, about the WNBA\u2019s effort to fight for fair pay, plus many more films that will inform and engage audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n On the narrative front, Tribeca is adding two more features to its international competition: Alonso Ruizpalacios\u2019 La Cocina<\/em>, an immigrant story about an undocumented cook at a New York kitchen, starring Rooney Mara, and Celina Murga\u2019s Freshly Cut Grass<\/em>, a dramedy about married university professors who start affairs with younger students, executive produced by Martin Scorsese.<\/p>\n

\n And the festival has added two titles to its Spotlight narrative section: The world premiere of Hannah Einbinder\u2018s Max stand-up special Everything Must Go<\/em> and Deena Kashper\u2019s Nuked<\/em>, about a marijuana-fueled 40th birthday party that turns chaotic when partygoers become aware of a nuclear missile headed toward them. The star-studded cast includes Justin Bartha, Anna Camp, Maulik Pancholy and Natasha Leggero.<\/p>\n

\n On Father\u2019s Day, the last day of this year\u2019s festival, Tribeca will present a members-only screening of Despicable Me 4<\/em>, directed by Chris Renaud and written by Mike White. The Steve Carell-starring Illumination title is set to hit theaters on July 3.<\/p>\n

\n And Tribeca has already announced a high-profile event, after the end of this year\u2019s festival, as part of its year-round programming: the Imax premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One<\/em> on June 26, debuting the Michael Sarnoski-written and -directed prequel starring Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff and Djimon Hounsou.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more excited to bring the premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One<\/em> home to New York \u2014 and on the biggest screen in New York City,\u201d said Tribeca Festival director and senior vp, programming Cara Cusumano. \u201cWe can\u2019t think of a more perfect way to close out our programming this June than with some big screen thrills and a film that celebrates the magic of the shared theatrical experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
