Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Zhang said TSMC\u2019s upcoming A16 node technology (for chips in premium phones, data servers, AI, and ADAS systems) doesn\u2019t necessarily need to use the High NA machines. Instead, it could rely on the company\u2019s existing EUV equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen actually High NA EUV will come into play, I think it depends on where\u2019s the optimum economic and the technical balancing we can achieve,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Intel has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thelec.net\/news\/articleView.html?idxno=4825\">reportedly<\/a> secured the majority of ASML\u2019s latest equipment. In April, the US tech giant became the first chipmaker in the world to assemble a High NA EUV machine.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TSMC_on_track_for_first_European_fab\"><\/span>TSMC on track for first European fab<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>During the conference, TSMC confirmed that it will start building its first factory in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2024. Production will begin in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The $11bn-plant will be located in Dresden, Germany, and will allow the chipmaker to directly provide European automakers with MCUs. These are microprocessor units that control multiple vehicle systems, such as windows, brakes, and windshield wipers.<\/p>\n<p>The fab is a joint venture between TSMC and three major European players in the chip industry: Bosh, Infineon, and Netherlands-based NXP, participating with a 10% stake each.<\/p>\n<p>TSMC has already secured \u20ac5bn in support from the German government and is now awaiting for a subsidy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval under the EU\u2019s Chips Act.<\/p>\n<p>The act aims to mobilise \u20ac43bn in public and private investments, and increase the EU\u2019s share in global production capacity from 10% to 20% by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The Taiwanese chipmaker opened its first overseas factory in February this year in Japan.
