The debut solo LP from Portishead frontwoman Beth Gibbons, released six-and-a-half months before her 60th birthday, comprises 10 jaw-droppingly lush tracks, each a condensed saga of its own. The songs\u2019 astonishing intricacy and im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te impact are testament to the benefits of taking one\u2019s time.<\/p>\n<p>            Embedded in these chamber-pop symphonies are strange textures (particularly in the percussion) that come from untold hours of playful exploration, both in and outside the studio. Thematically, too, the record is full of oddly shaped reflective gems, the kind one can only find after making hard-won peace with life\u2019s finitude.<\/p>\n<p>            \u201cI realized what life was like with no hope,\u201d Gibbons writes in the album\u2019s bio, discussing the trials of her past decade: midlife and motherhood anxiety, menopause, and \u201clots of goodbyes\u201d to lost loved ones. \u201cThat was a sadness I\u2019d never felt. Before, I had the ability to change my future, but when you\u2019re up against your body, you can\u2019t make it do something it doesn\u2019t want to do.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>            Ultimately, she was able to emerge from this paralyzing fog. Lyrically, this change occurs most tangibly on \u201cOceans\u201d: \u201cBut I will dive in the ocean \/ On the floor, I\u2019ll gather my pride,\u201d she sings after a verse that aches with suffering. \u201cI will seek to undress the answers \/ On my knees, I\u2019ll look evermore.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>            This tenacious spirit is transferred to the fibers of the music as <i>Lives Outgrown<\/i> climaxes on the epic outro of \u201cBeyond the Sun,\u201d featuring triumphant sax squalls and powerful gusts of orchestral dissonance.
