Sign up now!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt prepares us for the post-ISS era, strengthening European industry\u2019s competitiveness in low Earth orbit operations, as well as being a test case for the ESA transformation and working differently.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.exploration.space\/\">the Exploration Company<\/a>, the contract is also<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> important for NASA\u2019s certification of the startup\u2019s vehicle. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Europe_ventures_into_space_cargo\"><\/span>Europe ventures into space cargo<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Exploration Company is already building and operating a reusable space capsule called <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.exploration.space\/nyx\">Nyx<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In September 2023, the startup signed a cargo services pre-booking agreement with US-based Axiom Space \u2014 the world\u2019s first commercial space station. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By joining ESA\u2019s mission, the company has added a new foothold in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis historic initiative demonstrates ESA\u2019s agility and willingness to act as an anchor client, hence combining public and private funding, like NASA did about 15 years ago,\u201d said H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Huby, the startup\u2019s CEO and co-founder.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thales Alenia Space, meanwhile, plans to develop an end-to-end commercial passenger and cargo transport service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Massimo Comparini, a Deputy CEO at the company, said he aims to give Europe \u201csustainable access\u201d to low Earth orbit. He also wants to create a commercial service for \u201cthe global market.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Debris_on_the_horizon\"><\/span>Debris on the horizon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In other ESA <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>, 10 nations have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">joined the agency\u2019s <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Space_Safety\/Clean_Space\/The_Zero_Debris_Charter\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zero Debris Charter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which aims to end the proliferation of space trash. By 2030, the signatories plan to become \u201cdebris neutral.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new recruits are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia, and Sweden. Over 100 organisations have also promised to enlist in the coming months, ESA said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Josef Aschbacher, the agency\u2019s Director <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a>, said the charter shows ESA is at the forefront of space sustainability.
