\n The tides of fortune were in their favor.<\/p>\n

A UK family became the envy of beachcombers everywhere after discovering \u201calien\u201d creatures worth about $65,000 on the Wales coast, as seen in a viral video uploaded by Liverpool Echo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was quite an attraction for the locals,\u201d said Martyn Green, 47, who stumbled upon the ritzy critters while vacationing with his family in Caernarfon on Sunday. The Meyerside resident recalled that his wife, Gemma, had initially made the find, which he said \u201clooked like something not of this world.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the 26-second clip posted on Facebook<\/a>, Green and his fam can be seen gawking at hundreds of the pearly white shellfish, which are attached to what looks like a large piece of driftwood. At one point, the camera zooms in to show them flicking their tentacled app<\/a>endages in and out.<\/p>\n

A quick Google search by Green\u2019s son revealed that the mystery critters were goose-necked barnacles \u2014 a filter-feeding crustacean that\u2019s a delicacy in Portugal and Spain.<\/p>\n

These ritzy critters can fetch over $100 a pound.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dubbed Percebes, these fortune-making morsels can fetch up to $125 per pound, making them some of the most expensive seafood on earth, reports SDfoodtravel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Green estimates that this particular batch was worth upward of $65,000 as \u201cthere were probably about 2,000 of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt turns out they are one of the most expensive sea creatures you can buy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In order to keep others from killing the golden goose-necks, the marketing agency boss has kept the exact location of his find a secret.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not being overzealous. Fishermen in Galicia, Spain brave treacherous tides and even harm from violent groups to get their paws on the pricey barnacles.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
